Anyone here experiencing a thumps sound when braking. It only happens to me when the fuel line is half to full. It doesnt happen when fuel is 1/4 full. Honda dealer said that it is coming from the fuel tank. Gas sloshing is making the sound. They said it is normal but it is very annoying. Sometimes the sound is so loud as if someone is banging underneath my pilot.

Yes, unfortunately it is normal and occurs usually when the tank is half-full to full.

Is this only a Pilot issue? I've never experience this in any of the cars I've driven.

Yes, most Pilot owners experience this unfortunately.

C'mon Honda, I believe you should issue a recall on this issue. It is so shame that an SUV like Pilot would experience this kind of issue. Very unsatisfactory.

Figueroa, what year is it? If you aren't 100% sure that it's the gas, take a look at this TSB and see if your Pilot qualifies. It's a thumping noise from the rear end and has to do with the brakes. http://www.tegger.com/hondafaq/tsb/pilot/04-019.pdf
