Hi,
Do the dealer installed accessories include an installation fee on top of the MSRP price? Example:
Roof Rack MSRP($289) - Dealer charging $495
Splash Guard MSRP($63) - Dealer charging $195
Cargo Tray MSRP($105) - Dealer charging $130
Wheel Lock MSRP($54) - Dealer charging $85
Is this typical( I know pricing will vary ) or is the dealership adding extra fee's on? These accessories in question have been pre-installed on the vehicle already.
How about a New Car Inspection and Packaging Removal Fee? I found a dealership is charging $155.50 for this.
thanks!

On eHonda.com, the roof rack is $318.10 installed, the splash guards $92.10 installed, the cargo tray $114.20 installed, and the wheel locks $73.40 installed. It looks like you found a dealer with serious additional markups. As for the "New Car Inspection and Packaging Removal Fee," that is not standard, and is a cost of their doing business. There are plenty of ways that dealers try to pass their overhead onto the customer, but that one sounds pretty bad.

Thanks. That's what I thought to.

I went to Hondapartsdeals.com and bought a factory roof rack for $201.11.
It arrived this afternoon and took me all of 10 minutes to install it. All thats required is a T-15 star drive and a T-40 star drive.
The link to the roof rack is here:

$495.00 installed? Thats a rip-off.....

You must not of had very much paint on the mounting studs located in the roof!! Mine had significant paint which required I use a plain nut to "clean" the threads before installing the mounting nuts. This was also outlined in the installation instructions. I first thought I could bypass the step, but could not run the mounting nuts down more than about 1 thread before they would bind.
BTW, what did you use the T-15 torx for? Looks like there are T-15 screws on the underside and there was some movement of the cross-bar in the mount, but once installed - no movement. It appeared to be "by design".

I tightened the screws on the cross bars as well. That's what the T-15 torx drive was for. When the side mounts were in palce, like yours, it was plenty solid. I just wanted a bit more 'insurance' for my cargo.
The mounting studs on mine were actually pretty clean. I had no trouble running the nuts down over them when I did the installation.

$25 to install a cargo tray! Get the part from the parts guy, take it out of the packaging, place in cargo area. $25 for that! Yikes :x Sounds like a rip-off to me.

Anyone get a dealer quote to install the factory fog lights? New Rochelle, NY dealer wants $895! But said he can MAYBE take $150-200 off.
What?
Also, I'm getting a EX-L...shouldn't they be standard on the top of the line SUV in its class?

Ok, well I guess that is "good" to hear...I really want/need the fog lights, so if I'm not the only one paying $800 for fog lights, I feel a little better.
Thanks for sharing.

Do it yourself. I feel as if many manuf. add fog lights to compensate for crappy headlamps. Have you ever driven a Dodge without the fog lamps on? I was in a Intrepid and the regular beams were terrible.

It definitely pays to shop around on the accessories.
The dealer who gave me the best deal on the car wanted me to pay $379 for a Roof Rack installed. The SAME dealer through eHonda.com only wants 318.70 installed, and another dealer about 10 miles away only wants $288.20 installed.
My plan (I'm still waiting for my CRV EX-L to make the trip across the ocean) is to buy it direct from partscheap.com for $202.80 and do the install myself.

That's nuts.
Do it yourself, save yourself $300 bucks or more and buy your significant other something nice. :?

I live in south Florida. I received a print out of the installed accessory prices from my local dealer ( www.cogginhondaftpierce.com ) and
I enclosed in the attachment. If you visit there ask for Linda F. and tell her Sandy sent you.

Yes, on the print out the prices are in a column titled "Total Installed Price".

I wanted to make sure they were with installation.
Arg!! I bought my fog lights at Coggin Honda of ORLANDO and they made me pay $685 installed. Thanks for showing this to us. If I need anything installed in the future I might get my Coggin to pricematch your Coggin :-)

Having worked at several dealerships when I was younger as well as having a good friend who sold cars for 30 plus years, there are plenty of ways dealerships cover their overhead through the customers wallet. I have some specific examples but they are not appropriate to be posted in this site.
