View Full Version : Weird Smell From Right Rear Tire?

One of my passengers at work mentioned a smell of something burning coming from the right rear tire.

Does some know what this could be? Could it just be some kind of coating on the brake disc being burned off? I checked to see and there did not appear to be any fluid dripping down, though it was at night.

Will check it in the morning.

I've seen several threads on this issue. Have you tried a search?

I got that smell in the past three Hondas (they were knew when I got them) 04' and 05' CRV and 06' Accord SE.
I also got it in my new 07' CRV.
I park the V in my garage so you can really smell it.
I think it is the brake pads (I might be wrong) but I now it will go away.

wouldnt be a little undercoat overspray burning off the muffler in the right rear corner? My 06 does that when i tow...the exhaust gets hotter when you tow.

Catalytic Converter, or so my dealer said. Mine went away quickly.

My '03 Crv has had the same thing since it was new. Always happens when I am driving at highway speeds for awhile. I've searched hi and lo for the cause and never found it. I think it is from the muffler/exhaust being close to the right rear tire. Don't worry about it. Be happy!

It's just stuff burning off, no worries.

My '05 did it for a couple of months or so. Then it went away. Nothing to worry about.

I've already noticed the smell is not as strong as it was. It is slowly going away!
