The last new car I bought (Toyota), the dealer was able to search every dealer's inventory in (I think) 5 states. Do Honda dealers have the same ability? I'm trying to figure out if my dealer is trying to give me the run-around over not being to find the color and configuration I want....

You're right, they're giving you the run around.

Yes they "should" be able to!

There's no reason to runaround. When I bought my '01 Civic, they didn't have the color I wanted, so they found it 150 miles away and the dealerships traded cars. My dealership transferred a white Civic to the other one to get the silver one for me. It added a little bit of delay, plus "processing time" at the local dealership, which seemed to be peeling the other dealer's sticker off the trunklid and adding theirs.

Thanks, everyone. I believe they were stalling, waiting for one they have in transit to be nearer. Supposedly they have a Glacier Blue 4WD EXL due to arrive in the next 6 days with our name on it.

Also keep in mind that dealers may not be willing to "trade" due to the popularity of the CRV. I know this will change soon once the market settles, but for now they may not want to be bothered.

Yes they can. I used to work at a Honda dealership and they can check each other's inventory. Remember, they want you to buy what they have on their lot.

That's how I got mine...the dealership that I bought it from only had EX-L's on the lot, so once they received an LX, they traded that for my Royal Blue LX...

I couldn't agree more. In my experiences I found that the dealers did not want to trade locally. I finally bought the silver crv ex from a dealer in Rochester who traded through another dealer in Buffalo ( I live near Syracuse).

I also found that higher volume-sales dealerships are more willing to take more $ off of the sticker-substantially more.

My CRV was a trade. Someone had wanted the black V that was in Greenville so Charlette sent theirs over to replace it, I showed just after it arrived. Thank God. I love my silver V!!
