If you are coming from version 1 or version 2 swing door, be very careful that you do not open or close your garage door with the 2007 rear hatch open.

You can do much damage to your rear hatch door!!

We learned the hard way on our Sienna minivan. I just checked the 2007 CR-V and found out that the damage to the rear hatch would be HUGE in the event of a garage door mishap.

Actually, I'm going to Home Depot tonight to get some flexible plastic piping to cover the offending garage door arm. Covering the arm with plastic will not prevent damage entirely, but it will help minimize it.

If you have just brought home an 07, please take this warning seriously and check out the damage potential for yourself (even more especially if you have kids).

Thanks for the tip. I fully agree and can't stress enough that when you lift up the hatch, watch for low hanging beams in parking garages too!

2 ways to help avoid the problem:
1. own a tall garage
2. back your vehicle into the garage

i utilize both. <grin>

You should also test the strength on the garage door.
Meaning, when the garage door is on its way down (closing) if it hits something, it should be able to reverse its course.
And if it is going up (opening) it should be able to stop.
All these are safety features built in your garage door (if you use one) providing it is at least ten years old.
You should test your garage door regarding if you have a CRV or not, safety issue especially for the kids and pets.
The controls should be on the side or in the back of the unit for the most part. I used to install garage doors.
If you have any questions please feel free to ask.
If you like to test your garage door, place a 4X4 at the bottom track, it should reverse.
Also, I will advice getting a professional to inspect your garage door is you are in doubt.
