Guys - So maybe I am just bored as I wait for the arrival of the EX-L with Nav so I can snap one up but ...
Can some of you who are buying please post what model you have and MPG experience after the first few tanks?
If it is like all the other Honda/Acura's that I have owned ... I tend to get better than the highway rating and just wondering how the AWD and 2WD models are going to fair against the EPA estimates (even if it is prior to break in time which will help even more)
Thanks!

I don't pick my new EX AWD Royal Blue Pearl CR-V up until October 7th. But I have been wondering the same thing. People have reported that on their test drives around the city for 10-15 minutes that they were averaging 19.5 to 22 mpg(city driving). Keep in mind that engines don't fully break in until 20k+ of driving and that mileage should improve during that process.

The computer indication of MPG is at best an estimate.
If you are interested in knowing the actual MPG your vehicle gets you need to track how many miles you drive between fill ups and how many gallons are used to drive those miles.

My average MPG on the display started at 19.1mpg and is now up to 19.9mpg. It will be a couple of weeks before I can calculate the true mpg. :)

Well, I took mine on a 363mile trip yesterday, after my visit to the dealer.
In the last two days, I have put 395 miles on it and just filled it up this morning.
The on-board computer said I was averaging 30.1mpg, the 13.505 gallons I put in calculates to around 29.2484mpg.
Overall I am VERY impressed by the new CR-V. It is HUGE inside. It's interior is clean and functional. Its ride quality is SUPERB. At 80mph, the wind noise is nearly imperceptible.
I was averaging ~73mph for most of the trip yesterday. (can't really tell since there's no 1mph gradiation on the speedometer) I suppose that I can expect over 30mpg if I were to back it down to 65mph.
I think that the A/C will cause a drop. I won't find out until next spring..

Wow! Skrapiron-that mpg sounds really good! Of course I live in the "deep South" where the A/C is run year round but I'm very encouraged by what you got especially with the speed you were averaging on your trip. This is going to be great compared to the 15.8 I've been averaging on my Pilot lately! :(

Whoa! 15.8mpg???
My dad has a 2004 Pilot EX 4wd. He averages close to 22mph on the highway.... 15.8? that sounds like alot of city driving.
The CR-v is supposed to be good for 22mpg in the city. If that's the case, it'll be better in the city mpg-wise than my 2006 Saturn AWD was on the highway!

Estimate=YES! I have owned about 10 vehicles with them (currently the Dodge truck has one) rented about 100+ with them and all of them have displayed higher than actual - sometimes as much as 3-4 mpg. I always reset the whole thing when I get a rental too. My best guess is that the manufacturer would rather you see a high number and get excited about it than manually record a low number and post bad things on a forum about it!

My 2006 Dodge Ram Hemi is averaging less then 10mpg running around in my little town. Needless to say, the CR-V is our main vehicle.

Actually Skrapiron, THAT'S combined city/hwy driving! Pathetic! I was averaging around 17-18 so it's probably due to the need for a tuneup. I have to run the AC constantly though-even now. It's still 90+ outside!
I remember my CRX (anyone else old enough to remember that one)-I bought the first one back in 1984 I believe and I used to get around 50 on the hwy. So, hey, I'm looking forward to even 26 or so with the new CRV!! Your estimates are encouraging!

Heck yeah, I remember the CRX. I had an HF 5 speed that I bought while in college in the 80's If I remember right, it only had 66hp. But with the 5 speed transmission got me nearly 50mpg on the highway. Oh those were the days :D ...
Updated fuel economy report. I added another 245 miles onto the odometer since Wednesday. This time it included some heavy city driving (going through Pittsburgh during rush-hour just SUCKS!) This last top-off was 9.158 gallons. That's 26.375mpg (dash computer said 28.3)
Overall, I am now averaging 28.239mpg for the week.
That's HUGE compared to the 21.2mpg that my 2006 Saturn Vue AWD was gving me!

On the first fillup, my '07 got 21.5mpg. My '05 was averaging between 19-20mpg, so I'm happy with the new numbers! :)

mcbeevee - love your new 2007 CR-V and I liked your color when I saw one at the dealership last week. I'm sorry though about your front license plate. My twins graduated from UGA and the Dawgs are taking down Big Orange tonight!

Is yours a 2wd or AWD? Your MPG sounds like the 2WD. Otherwise, I'll just have to go outside and kiss my car.

FYI-just filled up today and the onboard mpg estimator was almost exactly what I averaged. With the AC running constantly, I got 23.3 mpg with basically a combined driving (city/hwy). I think it will probably increase a bit after it's "broken in."
Hey, after the 16 mpg I was getting with the Pilot-I'm thrilled! This is already saving us almost $100.00 a month with all the driving we do!

I'm happy your prediction did not work out...I will be a Dawg fan on 10/28! Back to the topic, my 2 fillups in the 2007 CR-V were 21.5 and 21.3 mpg. The mpg computer was predicting between 22 and 23mpg. :)
