I read somewhere that we are to change the fluid in the differential at 30K miles. Can this be DIY? And any pics?

Just do a Google groups search for the phrase "CRV noise when turning" You'll find the description I wrote.
It's SO easy, just pick up a plastic funnel at the dollar store (so you don't get spouse grouchy), 4' of clear tubing from hobby shop or wine-making store, and two new crush washers from Honda or wherever.
I'd provide a link but my windows is broken. Can't cut-n-paste. 'Curly'

I recommend at least changing the diff fluid once a year... It's just good preventative maintanance... Like what curly said, it's very, very easy! IMO, it's easier than replacing your engine oil, because of the difficultness of getting to the oil filter...
Here's the link that CR-Vince created: http://users.ev1.net/~aurelio/crv/rear-diff-fluid/index.html
Good luck!!!

I used my 4wd a lot this winter so I plan on changing mine as soon as it warms up. :)

A lot of forum members like the 30,000-mile interval. I've adopted a more aggressive schedule; I do an ATF and DPF (dual-pump fluid) change every 15,000 miles.
I have a 2000 CR-V, so if you have a 2002+ model and the pictures on the webpage don't match the underside of your car exactly, that's why. (Although I don't remember anyone mentioning that anything changed radically in that area.)

Thanks for all the help guys/gals. Though I haven't sensed any problems, I am getting close to the 30K mark so, 1st thing this spring it'll be done.

i can tell u DIY for this is not as easy as it sounds if u dun have the tools
i did mine 3 days ago and got my hands covered up with the DPF and wasted 100ml of it trying to get the fluid to go into the diff...
in the end, i have to use a "pump" from a shampoo bottle to pump the fluid in.. (of course i flush the "pump" throughly b4 using it to get the fluid in there)

Hmmm, what about after?

I use a special type of funnel... One that you attach one end directly to the bottle and then it has a tube that you can insert into the differential's hole... You turn the valve on and squeeze the bottle... The fluids will go directly into where it's needed without any spillage...
I'll take a picture of it when I get a chance... It's the best invention for things like this...
You can get it at Canadian Tire (Canada) and I'm pretty sure that Pep-Boys or Walmart has it also...

That's exactly what I use now. Once you've got the experience of doing it the first time, subsequent changes are easy.

i use the oil to wash my hair afterwards :-P
actually, it is from an empty shampoo bottle, so i just leave it in the DPF bottle until next time i need to change the fluid
