Hi,
I'm about 6'2" and 240 lbs. I've read that this vehicles target is for 30 something Mom's.
Has anyone read or heard anything about how comfortable it will be for bigger drivers?

The headroom/legroom/hiproom/etc on the '07 is very close to what it was in the '06 model. Visit a local dealer and see how the '06 fits you. The one thing I really like is the ease of entry/exit, but I'm only 5'10"! :)

I've seen some 30 something Moms who looked like they tilted the scales at 240. The only way to know is go sit in one (CR-V, I mean).

Thanks for the info everyone.
I was hoping maybe one of the article writers could chime in too as they actually have been in the new version.
The numbers look OK but really can be deceiving where 41. something inches in one car can be way roomier than 41. something inches in another.
Like you say I will just have to wait anyways and I'm going to wait to let Honda work out the bugs first before buying.

That's very true... there are many factors that aren't represented in the single linear measurement:
- Adjustable seat height
- size of the pedals
- width of the footwell
- lateral knee space
- height of the footwell
- size of the footrest/dead pedal
- positioning of the pedals vs. the wheel
- "stretch room," as I call it.
For example:
I am 6'1, with most of my height in my legs.
My '01 CR-V is listed as providing 41.5" of front legroom...
A new Scion xB lists 45.3"; While it is spacious, I can't stretch my left leg out as far in the Scion, and the foot rest is considerably smaller. Overall, it is less comfortable for me.
The CR-V, on the other hand, gives me more legroom than any other car I've ever owned, save for a 1992 Honda Accord (42.6"). In the CR-V (auto BTW), I can stretch my left leg out completely, even when wearing bulky winter boots, and still barely touch the floorboard in the space where the clutch would be located. In the Accord, I had to slide the seat forward one notch to fully depress the clutch.
For all it's faults, I gasped at the legroom in the Chevy Equinox (41.2"), where I could barely touch the pedals without sliding the seat forward.
Back in January, they had a new car show at one of the event centers here, and I spent the day seeing what cars could comfortably sit in. It's disheartening to realize how few cars are designed for someone with long legs. Mazda's seemed particularly cramped overall, as well as most Toyotas. Hondas were better, but the best were GMs and Hyundais.
One of my biggest pet peeves is the small size of many footrests. With the cab-forward style that is nearly universal now, it is not unusual for the wheel wells to intrude into the footwell. For me, this usually means a hard, unyeilding barrier right where I want my left toes to be. Even larger vehicles like the Dodge Grand Caravan suffer from this deficiency. I love stick shifts, but often I am dissuaded from buying one because I want the clutch space for my left leg. In the CR-V, with the open front floor, I can even stretch my right leg out as well on long drives. That, more than anything else, has stayed my temptations to buy a new car.

My son is bigger than you (6'4" and 280 lbs) and he fits in my 2002 CR-V just fine.
I am sorry to say he is a bit tubby.
I realise not all men over 200 lbs are, but he is a big man.

Sure. In the cargo area with the rear seats flipped.

I would guess that either:
A: He has shorter legs.
or
B: He has lower standards for comfort.

What gets me is how high the seats are in todays cars. the manufacturers are all trying to create that great veiw of the road but what they are forgetting is that some people are tall. Why not have the seat able to be lowered more? Sure, they could keep the hieght for small folks but If I want to sit close to the floor to allow room for my massive head than let me. My GF had an '02 2door civic with sunroof. The headroom was horrible because the seat was so high. I came across multiple sites with people asking for aftermarket seat rails to lower the seat hieght. The seat could have easily been designed to be another inch or so lower without being considered an engineering feat. I really don't get it.
In my opinion, this is a costly mistake as I, along with the seemingly ever growing popualtion of tall people, can only buy a model with plenty of head room... This is why I own an 02V. Hopefully the 07 doesn't disapoint in this regard.
HMM, maybe I should start my own aftermarket company!!!

Although I am 6'1, I usually raise the seat higher than average. Unless the car uses a height adjustment that hinges on the front seat edge, you can usually procure a bit of extra legroom by raising the seat.

Rear seat legroom was a huge factor for me when I bought my '03 CR-V. I have two teenage sons and both are tall.
I looked at a Suburu Forester and literally could not get my legs in the car when sitting in back.
According to the specs, Honda has reduced the size for legroom in the rear seats. I want to sit in the '07 to see for myself, but if it's small and cramped, I definitely won't be upgrading.

I had a chance to sit in a new 2007 CR-V EX last week at the dealer. The interior is very nice, but after getting back into my 2002 EX, it (my 2002) seemed to have more space up front for the driver. Someone commented on lateral knee space and that was the main thing I noticed. My right knee was pressed up against the auto trans shifter area of the dash in the '07. In my '02, my right knee is completely free and does not press up against anything. I love that and realize that most vehicles don't allow for that due to the traditional console shifter setup. I hear a lot of people complain about the placement of the auto trans shifter and parking brake in the second Gen CR-Vs but I love the setup. I guess to each his own. By the way, I'm 6'1" in height. On a side note, I do like the placement of the dead pedal in the '07 model vs. the second Gen placement.

I am 6' and weigh around 220. I am very comfortable driving the 07 CRV. I always drive with the seat as far back as I can get it and the seats reclined a bit but it is comfortable for me.

The '07 is definitely more cramped in the back seat.
In front, the door handle sticks out pretty far as does the shifter.

I'm 6'3" and 350. big boy to say the least.
We looked at an EX-L w/ Navi this weekend, first thing I did is comfortably get in the backseat. Without adjusting the front seat, i then got in and started the test drive.
I'm AMAZED at how much seating space this small suv has. wanted to buy it on the spot. Glacier Blue is even a beautiful color :)

Our salesman was 6'5" and sat in the back fairly comfortably while we drove around on our test drive. Now granted we are only 5'10" but I wasn't cramped and neither was he. I was also quite amazed at the cargo hauling of the CRV...check out my profile photo. We put everything we had in a minivan on the V for our trek home. I thought NO way at first....

I agree. I'm a very "healthy" 6'1" woman with long legs (34" inseam). I went to the dealership to see an older CR-V and was surprised when I didn't have quite enough leg room in front. I'm one of those who much preferred the '02-'06 CR-V body style over the '07 so I reluctantly got in the new one. OHHH what a difference that made! The roominess drew me in. Before I even got behind the wheel I put the driver's seat all the way back, sat behind it, and was shocked that I didn't have to splay my knees apart like I was riding a horse. The awesome test drive impressed me, and little by little I fell for the new CR-V from the inside out. I'm now the owner of the 2007 CR-V EX Whistler Silver Metallic.
I was very close to getting a new Subaru Forester until I got in the backseat (rather I "tried" to get in the backseat). The total lack of leg room made me reluctantly cross it off my list. Still, I'm totally happy with the decision I made and that I'm still in the Honda family (I traded in my '97 Accord SE).
i'm 6'4"/200 lbs, long legs, and the new CR-V feels very comfortable, i might even say Perfect for me.
if they only changed the internal door handle to smth else.. :D

I'm interested in how tall folks feel about the driver headroom in the 2007 with sunroof. According to the specs the sunroof cuts headroom by two inches. Did any of you need the non-sunroof LX to keep from hitting the headliner, even with the seat set low? (I'm 6'5" with long torso)

I might not be tall enough to for my response to be meaningful to you (6'1" -short torso, long legs), but I find the sunroof makes the CR-V feel much more open. With your height I'd suggest test driving both to make sure you're not hitting your head, but if not, definitely go for the sunroof.

I'm 5'10" 255# (and I've managed to shed 20# in the past 2 months).
I'm not long-legged, but I'm comfortable with the seat all the way back. I do wish the seat would go back another notch or two, even if I'd keep it a notch from the back. Our 1996 Mazda 626 has more leg room that way, but much less foot room overall.
And I'm not tall, but it seems I've got more headroom in the V than any other vehicle I've had.
One factor for me has always been shoulder room. Every Toyota I've ever test-driven from 1970 to 2007 has my left arm hard against the driver's door. For me, this is uncomfortable and a disqualifier for any vehicle. Last fall when we were car shopping, a test drive of the Forester also had my left arm and shoulder against the door.
The 07 V gave me room no other small SUV did. Bingo! :D The open floor design seems to give us much more room than any vehicle we've ever had.
