OK, there's been a lot of posts earlier. But this is for people who actually purchased and installed a system. What did you get? How is the noise level? Effect on torque/low-thru-midrange? MPG? Anything else? I really want to get either the Greddy or Comptech system but I'm concerned most about noise and loss of torque. Responses much appreciated!

i didnt buy a cat-back.. but i did get a magnaflow muffler.. i wasn't looking for something big or drastic.. something more on a stock leve size.. but with a deep sound.. so i was searching and found the hunter was selling a magnaflow muffler.. i bought it off him and i put it on and i felt a slight lost in power.. but a slight gain in higher rpm's... but i also have an injen intake too... my friend has a greddy evo 2 cat back on his 03 si.. and it sounds deep and nice.. not ricely.. so im thinkign maybe when i have mor emoney.. i will up grade .... but since our V's need that low end torque just to get up hills and such i would suggest just changing the muffler and keeping stock size.. because anything but stock size will make you lose going up hills and off the line...

i have one installed...

i tried to get a greddy, but was told by 3 distributors that it has been discontinued...i actually paid for one, waited weeks because i was told it was on backorder, only to find out later it was discontiued....more endless weeks waiting for a refund....

unless you know different...the greddy is discontinued....

anyway, i picked up a full system off ebay after talking to others who have won the auction for the same exhaust before me...

specs...
Forza tuning catback exhaust system (by OBX)
Full stainless steel
4.0 inch TIP
2.5 inch piping

pic below only shows 2 pieces but it comes with 3 (installed pix later) all gaskets, nuts and bolts also included...

results...
it has a nice exhaust note at idle and under 3000k rpm...gets louder when you open it up between 3000k-4000k

out of the parking lot, the accelerator was a bit touchy, so claims about losing low end torque i have to question...

gains may be minimal but i noticed it had more get up and go...

from stop, to wide open throttle...i did notice a bit of a flat spot (cant remember details) but this may have also been there pre-exhaust...

at highway cruising speeds, 60-70mph @ 3000rpm, the exhaust note is livable...

accellerating to pass on the highway seems easier...as the engine seems to spin up faster thru the rpms...

all heresay i know, the butt-dyno isnt too accurate...if i find a place that can do awd dyno runs and the money to do it, i would give it a try...

maybe a gtech would give me a better estimate but i dont have one of those either...

on looks...
the rolled edge tip is nice...i dont like the badge spot welded on the side of the tip...it uses stock hanger points and fits well, the tip pretty much ends at the end of the bumper (or close too it) and doesnt stick out...

i have seen the greddy tip stick out almost 2 inches past the bumper on a 95 civic hatch...

final verdict...
its a little loud for my taste, i like the sound of a buddy's apexi on his accord, cant tell its there until you open up full throttle...

nace - you the same guy as enynace above? IF not, what are your opinions on noise and performance.

not the same person...

as far as noise, it's not that bad, ever hear those ricers go by with those crappy exhausts, where is sounds like they dont have an exhaust at all and can hear them coming blocks away?...nothing like that...its much more subtle...but you will know it is there...it wont be setting off any car alarms when you pass parked cars...

on performance, i'd have to say it does seem easier to pass on the highways and the rpms climb somewhat faster...i was worried about the 2.5 inch piping because i have heard of others losing power with slightly smaller piping but i cant say that i have noticed any loss at all...actually i think i may have gained some, but i have no tools at the moment to measure it and i dont have a basline either...

side note...it hasnt hurt my fuel economy either...

i'll see if i can use my pda to capture a soundbyte later...

Thanks, if you could that would be great. I found a dynomax axle back #17251 I think, but thats about $279 or so at summit. This thing is cheaper and a cat-back. So, I am trying to see if its a good buy or not.

from html code, I see you are trying to upload a pic of muffler from yahoo or something? You could place it in your gallery here and then let us know. Hope this helps!

Thanks, I did that and edited my first post. Didn't mean to hijack the thread. Is it displaying now? Is there a free hosting service that works? YaHoo Photos is PITA! We-Todd-Did-Racing.com works on many Honda forums, but I don't think here.

LOL, it works fine. I need the wife muffler sometimes too! ;)

I am yet to find a decent picture hosting site too!
