college educated, early thirty-something families with zero to one child, which, incidentally, is Honda’s target buyer.
This is HONDA'S consumer, this CR-V fits that mold. The "outgoing" model
fits this buyer aswell, the only difference is a fresh-up.
I bought my CR-V for "intelligent reasons aswell"
1. Longevity
2. fuel economy
3. crash test results
4. resale value
Not for:
1.heavy-duty off roading
2. more than 2 kids( I have 2 in carseats)
3.towing
4. Status symbol/To impress anyone except myself.

Nice find. I must say that for what Honda is going for (ie. more stylish urban wagon) I really like it. It is not rugged enough for my tastes but I sure wouldn't mind having one as the family hauler. It has kind of a mini-MDX feel to me. I am also surprised that there are no projector headlights.
Ok, so all these car mags can publish pics and stories of the official vehicle but Honda cannot send us an email with any kind of info or pics until Sep. 1st ?!! That's just sad.

... and those car mags saw the car at least 6-8 weeks ago to make it into publication for the September issues... The new V has been finalized for at least 3-4 months.

I'm still having a hard time getting used to that "Grouper mouth" front end.

I keep thinking of the Chevron Techron cars and "separated at birth:....
There are like 50 pics under the photo section. The interior looks very nice.

Motion to merge threads?

thanks for the post. I didn't buy the CRV for any "rugid outdoor play", so off-roading is not a concern of mine.
I like what I see. My use of the CRV is to drive around town, and take short (4 hours or less) trips. I love the fuel economy of my CRV. When my wife sees the new CRV, she's going to want to ditch the van and buy the new CRV. The only bothersome thing I noticed is that the CRV is 3 inches shorter (I hope I read that right). I don't understand why it had to be shorter just because the spare is now under the vehicle, but I'm also not an engineer.
I think Honda again proves why it is one of the premier auto manufacturers today.

you mean lazy enough to deal with such boring trifles as shifting gears all the time instead of doing something usefull? :P
aw dont cry because honda ditched your toy - you can shift the auto too if you love so much shifting things

You mean you wanna join it to this one that was already posted?
I got no pride of ownership. Heck, I stole the link from the Edmunds forum , anyway. Merge away....

Well we won't get projectors :? Europeans will. I hope we get projectors and maybe even HID's for our SE model :)
I agree with your second point, kinda stupid seeing as how everyone has published some sort of information on it....

I can't get used to that sloped, squished rear. I'd rather have a squared-off, larger and more functional area in the back for hauling. The CR-V is getting more and more sissified.

Moved into the 2007 forum. It's up to the posters to determine which Car & Driver thread will dominate.

Like Blueiedgod, I'm just not an automatic transmission kind of person. I live in rural PA without a lot of traffic to deal with in my commute. Plus the extra control in snow is a real plus. I realize that some people live in the city or suburbs and deal with a lot of stop-and-go traffic and an automatic just suits them better. Some others just don't want to be bothered. It just frustrates me that Honda is no longer giving us a choice on this point.
Please, please, Honda. Give us a manual OPTION. (With the upcoming diesel too.)

So, you are a lefty, I take that yours hangs to the left then.
Speaking of which, I saw one of those ribbons that everyone has now days, but instead of "bring the soldiers home" or "Cancer research" it said "I support Road Head"

Guys, it's not a matter of one thread over another...that's why it's called a merge.

My wife's Mazda5 has projectors, my CR-V doesn't... Honestly, I don't notice any difference between the two as far as the spread of light. I really think that they're just a fashion symbol, much like pop-ups were in the 80s (was there ever a good reason for the Accord to have those?).

I did drive a Euro Accord (TSX in the US) with HID and did make a difference.

As I said, I have no problem with a merge. And now that this thread is in the proper place, it would make sense to merge the second thread into it. Who has the capability to do that?

Bing might, I suppose. My mod powers are limited to Delete, Move, Lock, and Split. So the closest thing I can do is lock one of the threads with a message pointing to the other. Both threads looked "legit" to me last night so I didn't really see a point in killing one right away, but I suspect that one will naturally start to dominate.
so far this one surely dominates with the debade about which thread is more special
