On the front page of HondaSUV, it shows a large picture of the New CR-V instrument panel. The Automatic Transmission is supposed to be a 5 speed, yet the instrument panel only shows D,2, 1
Why?

D3's probably a button on the shifter like the current models.

I spy with my little eye...SPAM! Motion to ban ambrumer.

You'd be hard-presssed nowadays to fine an auto shifter with all 5 (or even 4) gears manually selectable on it.

How do we report the SPAM to a moderator?
We need to delete the post by ambrumer and block him.

The current CR-V's with 5-speed auto transmissions only show the D/2/1. If the D3 button is pressed, a separate D3 light will turn on. There are no indicators for D4 or D5. :)

Sorry, I was traveling today or I would have caught it sooner.

Done and done.

I am still not clear.
On a 4 speed auto transmission
I understand that when in D, the transmission is free to shift from 1,2,3 and 4 (or OD). If one deselects OD on the shifter - then it will indicate OD is off.

So on a 5 speed auto, 5th is OD.
I would expect that "D" means any gear from 1,2,3, 4 or 5.
Deselecting OD (5th) would mean that D allows 1,2,3, and 4 with no lock for "3"

Forget OD altogether - sort of meaningless.
The button on the shifter is labeled D3, and when depressed, locks out 4th and 5th gear i.e. only gears 1, 2 and 3 are available, if the selector is in D. You cannot select 4th at all :(

I'm disappointed the 2007 doesn't have 'Tiptronic' type selector, allowing changing up/down with buttons. Even the Hyundai Tucson has it.

I was also surprised that the new V didn't have a manumatic type auto tranny. At least from the pics we have seen anyway. That was one of the first things I looked for. Maybe they have researched enough to not bother spending money there. I am sure many people don't use that feature. It sure is neat on the Honda Fit auto tranny though, especially with paddle shifters which are just plain fun.
