Did alot of research on this car and see it's for 22k-23k for a AWD EX at edmunds.com alot cheaper than a RAV4 w/ the L package but is this what everbody is paying for this car ?? seems too good to be true ?? i heard the RAV4 can go to about 28k out the door w/ all the option (ridiculous) but i don't see any options you can add to the EX (other then the side stuff can't really tell the difference between the side skirts and running board) but the thing i wanted was a nice SUV under 25k w/ manual trans sunroof, power everything. don't need the leather seats cuz i don't really take car of my car anyways but this price for the EX seems to good to be true. i'd like to add dvd player w/ screen if it is this cheap. what is everyone else paying for this car ?? saw on other boards that this car is hard to maintain, tune ups cost more and oil filter is hard to get too ??? btw i'm in hawaii if it makes a big difference. Here everyone drives a RAV4 and i'm tired of seeing it on the street. please anyhelp would be cool. AND what the hell is a HR-V never heard of it and didn't see it on the honda.com webpage ??? HUH!!!

Also no snow here, never seen it before .... : ( wonder how it taste like ....

Also no snow here, never seen it before .... : ( wonder how it taste like .... Howdy!

Tastes OK. Just stay away from the yellow stuff.

CRV's are easy to maintain. Nothing to worry about. You'll like it.

Check out the HRV section on this board. You'll see several pictures. Smaller than a CRV. Only available in some countries.

smaller than crv ?? they look as big as a pilot .. so are CRVs really that price they quote in edmunds.com ? i wouldn't be surprised if i go to the dealer and they have a 26k-28k pricetag on them. going tomorrow just to check out what they got to offer first ...

Prices may be slightly higher in Hawaii. After all, sun screen lotion is not free. And then there are the pretty hula dancers............

Yeah, that price sounds about right for a CR-V EX. The RAV4 gets expensive because they really load them up with optional equipment. The average RAV4 probably goes for more like $23K.

As for the HR-V, they are small. Most the interior is taken up by the passenger compartment. Cargo space is limited.

went to test drive the CRV AWD EX today black but automatic. they told me they don't have any stick shift in stock and they don't plan on bringing any and even if i order one they won't do it for me... so right now i am like WTF!!! is everyones a stick shift here ? cuz i don't want no freakin automatic. the guy told me the SUV would drive better as an automatic and stick shift would be senseless. hmmm ... sounds like sales talk to me so i said i'll think about it. (my gf wants me to get a automatic so she can drive it anywayz). btw the sticker price was $27222 and the manager there knows my manager so the sales told me that the sticker was bull$hit and that he'd give it to me for around $22k EX Auto black ?? if i got manual would it be cheaper ? anyone got it for around $20k ??? or does $22k sound like a good deal already ?

4WD EX | Starting at $21,750.00
The pinnacle of luxury and convenience for the CR-V line, the EX adds to the 4WD LX front side airbags, an anti-lock braking system (ABS) with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), remote entry system, power moonroof with tilt feature, AM/FM/cassette/CD audio system with 6-disc in-dash changer and 6 speakers, 15" alloy wheels, body-colored mirrors and rear privacy glass.

Manual Transmission: $21,750.00

Automatic Transmission: $22,550.00

This is straight from honda's website.

My dealer also tried talking me out of a manual transmission. He actually though I wanted it because of the slight price difference. I had to explain to him that for many people manual is considered preferable. He had to trade with another dealer to get it for me. If there isn't one on the entire island I can see where they wouldn't want to go to the trouble of locating and importing one for you.

My dealer/salesperson also tried talking me out of a manual trans. They have few MT on the dealer's lots here, even with 5-6 dealerships being within a short driving distance from my home. The automatic is the one in demand.

If you aren't in a time crunch, perhaps you can wait to see if they do indeed get a MT later on. If you do end up going with a AT, perhaps they can throw in some accessories for the $22k price tag. That MSRP is outrageous that they quoted you!

guess $22k sounds good .. just wondering if anyone got it for cheaper .... so does it get more power w/ the manual ? cuz when i drived the auto it kinda lagged a bit(sales guy put the a/c to max) .... like it needed more power... sales told me it had a accord motor in it and it probably pulls double weight ??? should stick shift make it more swifter and should i try harder to get a manual ?? the back seats didn't fully recline? (saw some post about it on the forum) and after checking out the CRV i went to toyota to check out the RAV4 and there is no comparison the RAV4 is like a hatchback tercel( what my cousin calls it ...) no room between passenger and driver and on the back seats you can touch the back window hmm.... i think the CRV compares to the highlander tho ... that's a pretty nice one ...

You will notice that they rate the manual transmission as getting worse gas mileage than the automatic. This is because the manual is geared pretty low. I think they do this to give it moderate towing ability. Well as a result it gets up to speed pretty darn fast. The 0-60 time is around 8.5 seconds which is pretty amazing for a 4 cylinder suv.

There's no difference in the back seats between the manual and automatic versions. I think that post you read was confusing the LX and EX CR-Vs from 1998 - 2001.

As for acceleration, the manual is about .5 to 1 second faster in 0-60 runs.

As for getting a manual transmission, ask the sales manager next time. If he/she balks, ask them for the Honda customer service telephone number. Be nice and don't threaten them. This is not a scare tactic. They might be able to work something out for you and the dealer so that the dealer can import a stick sift a little more easily.

i see ... my post about the back seat was comparing the rav4 to the crv ... where as the back set on the rav4 you can touch the rear window meaning it's really small. so i'm guessing the manual is still a bit better right ? does it block the way in between the two front seats ? cuz i know the automatic shift is on the top left of the cd player.

sales told me it had a accord motor in it and it probably pulls double weight ???

It's more like hauling couple of extra passengers. The heaviest '04 CR-V is about 350 pounds heavier than the lightest '04 Accord. That'll slow you down.

Typically the new model comes out in October. Here they sell an '04 AT EX for $20800. I'm not sure if the MT has as big a discount.
