Here's something interesting.

Gone is the trigger throttle emergency hand brake of the current 2002 to 2006 Honda CR-V.

Now comes in the new and improved throttle lever hand brake in the 2007 Honda CR-V.

That's a damn good looking interior. Too bad it still doesn't make up for the abomination that is the exterior.

I saw that funny lookin' lever/handle too. At first I thought it would be neat way to make a 4wd lock, but no. Then, like you, believed it to be the parking brake. It is in a weird place. Do you think the pic shows it to be in the "braked" position?

I do think the interior is nice looking, but the pic shows the shifter to be inthe way of the climate control.

interior looks alot better now, but, i have to say im not a fan at all. doesnt seem to make sense to me. the designs with shift on the dash just seem very counterintuitive to driving all together, plus i think they get in the way of the controls. Anyways, i love the looks, Honda brought it.

Maybe it is an ejection seat for those who complain about the smaller interior?

Not a big deal for me....

I still think the interior is a bit plain :( I was hoping it would look a bit more upscale.... And for people who thought my parking brake was weird?!?!? wait till they see this thing!!!

That new throttle parking brake should be fun to use! :) Wonder what the 2 switches on either side of the gear shift are for? They are not on the Euro version.

Buttons are for heated front seats.

So, unless you opt for the loaded version, you get these big blank plugs right in the middle of the dash that reminds you and your passengers every time you get in it that you bought the cheaper version. Nice.

aggrevated. i lined up a 2006 Pilot EX-L sticker of 35 for under 30. CRV id be getting would be the loaded one and there just isnt enough truck in there for an expected 26 or 27, same thing with the Mazda. Pilot it is, now what color . . . .

that console design is a tremendous waste of space IMO- either leave the dash flat so that peopel can spread their legs, but dont bump it out then throw a parking break next to the drivers thigh

Just another comment on the new interior....all the useful cubbyholes are gone. With the shift in the middle of the dash, and a smooth surface over the glovebox, and the "table" between the seats gone, the utilitarian aspect has disappeared. The ability to carry people and "stuff", yet still be decent riding and fairly economical, made the CRV worthwhile. Take all that away, and I would prefer a true car driving experience and ecomony to what looks to be the new CRV. Not that the new one is bad, just does not have the utility of an SUV or the fun of a small car.

It still has the ride height(over a car), and large cargo carrying capability of a small SUV, and that's why we are buying, if we can afford it.

I think the table is still there, except the we are not sure if it is "stowable" as in the Gen2.

Thanks.

It is definitely a parking break. In the high res pics you can see the 'P' logo on it.

I will take the new Mazda CX-7 any day over this new CR-V (if you can call it that). Why did honda even bother calling it a CR-V? This hardly resembles what the name used to stand for. Disgust.

In the links in the other '07 thread, the model comparison chart shows that the LX & EX get the folding table. The EX-L gets a center console, which is what this is.

The question is what sort of parking-brake do the lower-trim models get? Perhaps they went back to the floor-mounted hand-brake design from the 1st gen.

I think the answer is there ....

US CR-V: floor-mounted handbrake which is not an issue because there's no manual transmission option

Euro CR-V: center-console handbrake to leave floor space for the clutch pedal with manual transmission (+ floor-mounted handbrake are not popular in Europe).

i doubt they would redesign the car and its interior for that handbrake
i think honda would leave the same handbrake for all trims, in all continents

Here's a pic of what I believe is the parking brake paedal mounted on the floor. It looks like it says "Push On, Push Off". Probably works like the parking brake on a GMC.

Do my eyes deceive me, or is that an actual dead pedal under the parking brake?

What do you mean? Never driven a GMC

Would that be an electric parking brake?
