I got my new spoiler installed today. I bought it from autoearth.com, and had it painted at a bodyshop. The spoiler has a built-in row of LED lights to replace/augment the third brake light. I chose to remove the bulb from the factory light!
What do you think? I think it changes my V's attitude!!

looks great!! is your spoiler the exact color of the body?

Yes, it's the same color. Since the model year is so young, there is only one paint code so far.

looks good, I might be removing mine for a different look, but why remove your third lightbulb out? why not remove the whole third light out if you are doing htat?

I did not shop around. They charged me $125. I have no idea where that falls in the range.

It was more involved, plus there's black "trim" in the glass around that light casing. I think it would look weird if the light was gone. I didn't look at that too closely. I can still remove it later if I choose.
I think my V goes faster now!!

IMO, leave the brake light on and do some wiring to make it work with the one on the spoiler..
like wangofree said, u can never have too many brakelights

It's already wired. I just have to replace the bulb.

yeah drilling is required. If done properly, drilling wont cause rust. you can always apply some touch up paint to stop the rusting

There are 4 holes needed to mount it. The shop drilled the holes, then primed and painted the holes before installing the spoiler. They were very considerate of rust.

IMHO these hole drills are the ones that cause the rust to develop first

Guys talk about rust all time with spoilers anytime you do and after install. However its the same way they install them at the factory. However if not properly installed rust MAY occur. Use all the rubber seals proper bolts and do it right the first time. I too thinks its kinda redundant to have that 3rd brake light if there is on in the spoiler.

topgun,
Factory matched touch-up paint and/or silicone will keep the holes from rusting

3 holes per side , 1 underneath for the bolt and a 4th hole required 4 your brake light..... black primer an anti rust paint coated on the holes

THat looks awesome. I'm definitely looking into getting one of those. However, I think I would probably paint over that brake light and keep the factory one plugged in. I think it would look a little funny to have 2 so close to one another.

Just searching on ebay and came across this one place that already paints the spoiler for you, all you gotta do is the installation.
