Just found a HR-V pictured in their website: http://www.maggiolina.com

it'll take some time for me to actually order one of those... prices from €1789.-

Questions I have regarding roof tents.
1. Rhino Racks for the HR-V are rated to 50kg and 90kg respectively (for goods on a moving HR-V). Maggiolina roof tents weigh around 50-60kg. Add two adults and you're totalling around 200kg. Can the HR-V withstand this amount of weight on the roof? (Wouldn't enthusiastic shagging (aka mounting :D ) endanger the mountings? )

2. It must be a nuisance to have set up camp, then discover that you have forgotten something... and need to drive into town to buy it (thinking milk, alcohol, dinner, etc...?) :x

3. Wouldn't it be better to be sleeping in a tent (on the ground) during a storm, than on the roof of a vehicle being rocked around?

i am pretty sure you'd rather sleep on the roof than be eaten by a hungry predator :P

absolutely, i like camping a lot and i would never sleep in a cramped roof box if it wasn't really necessary, like on a trip to africa :)

IMagine if someone stole your car and took it for safari joy ride with you asleep on top - you'd get a right battering .... could be fun though, charge people a fiver for a terror ride :D

Good point.

A mate once had a Tiger snake (very aggressive and very venomous) slide under his tent. Quite a tricky situation, especially when he wanted to pack up his tent.

I just guess my survival instinct is higher than all yours, cos if there is any chance of "predators about", I'll be sleeping in my car, not on display in some cloth bag !!
And definately not in some cloth bag on top of the car !

I spent last weekend sleeping in my car, a Damned sight less fuss than some poorly erected canvas thing, and more cosy too!

I think the sensible option is stuff on top of car, and people in car.

What berk figured to fill the car with stuff and put the people on top of it ???

So I had to re-arrange the grandfather clocks.... but I have to say I can lie in the back with the seats down quite easily....

Having said that I spent over 10 nights in the HR-V with little fuss.

Anyway I'm busy fitting CCTV to it at the moment......

Is that because it's so long you need 23 cameras to see which small child you're about to reverse over?

Did you have a 3 or 5 door?

It's possible to sleep in the 3 door, but mighty uncomfortable. It's not possible to get the front seats flat enough.
