View Full Version : Like to buy a HR-V
Netherlands

Hi there,
I would like to buy a nice Honda HR-V. :P
Can anybody tell me what the bad points are and what to watch out for?
I'm from Holland and I probably will buy a 1999-2000 HR-V 3-door with the non-vtec engine.
Thanks, :D

No weaknesses??
GET THE V-TEC
well there are no serious weaknesses about the hr-v
if you get the auto youd have to look out for a transmission shudder
but its covered by the warranty and it should be gone for a 5-6 years old car that youre after
honda engines are tough to break but still doesnt hurt to have the car checked by a mechanic
paint is thin as well as the panels so look out for dents, scratches and cracks and demand a discount
since youre way north check for rust
other than that youd be greatly surprised and satisfied - after all its a honda :)
ps - mine is non-vtec and i cant complain - saves gas and keeps you safe from reckless driving 8)

Yep, easy enuff to break the speed limit in a non vtec, 35 mph in a 30 zone =£60

If i still owned it, no idea where it ended up .. probably in an auction house somewhere - if it hasn't had a new engine by now i'll be very surprised!
Gold colour looks ok, but the resale isn't so good - black, blue or red seem to be the best colours - personally i like black or blue best.
black or blue may look good at first but you can see the smallest scratch and dirt spot on them
so if you dont have a ton of free time to wash and polish your car all the time - get silver
looks sharp, classy and always clean 8)

I hate red, there is one for sale over here, it's a lot cheaper then other ones.... but I don't like it...
Black is beautifull, darkgreen too, blue a little bit less... I like yellow too, but indeed, not everybody likes it, so resale will be difficult.
The yellow one I had a look at is at the dealer for a long time, since april 2005.... so that sais something about the poor selling.
I don't know if I have to be affraid of buying a car which hasn't been driven for al long time... :?
An advantage is that he will sell it for not too much.... :D

:D :D :D
Yesterday I signed a contract and from wednesday next week I will drive a Yellow HR-V!!!
I really like it, has a few little problems but all will be solved before wednesday and I bought it with a half year warranty
Further it seems to be in good shape, it's a none VTEC 1999 3-door model, done 84000 kms.
I exchanged my Seat Arosa 1.4 16V sport from 2002 with only 30000kms... is a nice complete car, driven it for about half a year, but don't have the right feeling with it.... it does not have any emotion.... if you know what I mean... probably because no VW-child has any emotion...
I will make pictures as soon as i have the car!

Excellent .... you'll be surprised by how much of a 'gokart' the HR-V is! Good luck with the ownership and be sure to get some pics up when you get it :)

I will try.... :D
Sofar it's driving reeeeaaaaly nice!!! :D
Relaxed driving, no need for too much speed, just right, don't need to make many revs to accelerate, enough torque at low revs... quite something else then most of the other cars I've driven, the were allmost all sporty cars in which you felt the need too rev a lot and go fast... not with with this baby... very nice, comfy and stress-free driving... I like it! :D
welcome to the club then :D
