View Full Version : CD Changer Compatibility
Will the CD Changer from my 1996 Accord be compatible with the Pilot? Or do I need to figure on buying a new one?

What kind of Pilot do you have? Do you already have the CD player in your Pilot? I have the Pilot service manual and can scan some pages that show the connections.
Actually, I'm in the process of buying one. The EX comes with a player, but I'd prefer a changer. I don't care if it's in-dash or under the seat. The changer I have now mounts in the trunk and plugs into the Accord Radio head unit. I'm just not sure if it will work with the honda EX head unit.
Thanks.

Does your changer play the music via the FM channel? If it does, then it should work with any cars. Otherwise, you can compare two connection diagrams and see if they are compatible.

The factory changer from 86 is an Alpine with two wires swapped(if I remember properly, R ch and signal ground) in the cable. To use in a newer Honda, you need to swap these two wire back to
Alpine configuration(or use an adpapter) and use a 98 up Honda to Alpine protocal adapter. This is of course in conjunction with a newer style factory head unit that has a changer output.
