Hi everyone. I hope everybody is having a good day or had one. I was wondering if it is possible to put 18" rims on my 99 honda crv ex without having to purchase aftermarket shocks, springs, struts, etc... I kinda want to have the rims look out like most cars with sort of "low pro" tires (i.e. more rim than rubber showing). If anybody could help that'd be great. Thanks!

Welcome to HondaSUV :)
you should be able to fit 18s on a 1st gen. I have seen large rims fitted. however if you dont change any suspension items, your V will look a little strange cause their will be a big gap between the tyre and wheel arch. you really need to lower the car to get rid of this gap.

you shouldn't have any problems with 18" rim. 225/45-18 is also a good size for your cr-v.
you can log in this site and you could see what is the size for your V. http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
but with low profile tire, you definitely have to lower your cr-v.
good luck!!!

Hi again. I was wondering do most people tend to put on 17's or 18's on the V. My biggest problem is inexperience with the aftermarket world. So if it is possible to recommend a decent suspension and whether or not 17's will be fine. I just don't think I have money for 18's =\. The last question is if it is possible to just put on a muffler like the apex n1's. Thank you so much my fellow V drivers.

Most universal mufflers will fit just fine, but make sure you go to a good shop to have it welded and fitted. you don't want it rattling or have the hangers be welded on in unsightly places.
You may also want to consider changing the entire cat-back since there are dedicated applications for the gen1 to do so. that way your full system from the cat back will be upgraded and it will easily install.

I had 18"'s on for a day, here's the pic!

but remmeber with changing your muffler you will lose some low end torque but gain it in high end rpm's.... i know i have change dmy muffler to a magnaflow muffler.. you wont gain anything.. even with a cat- back you will probbaly lose more then you think.. but i havent done that yet.. and one exhuast that will be the best to get .. as of cat-back would be IMHO Greddy.. just because they give you the most for your money.. and remember DONT BE FOULED BY THE SOUND!!!!!

Yah the biggest reason I just want a muffler is to take off the look of a small tip...lol...performance is something that I don't mind too much on. So can pretty much any suspension labeled for the V pretty much what goes then?
