07 CRV: Malibu

Was at Pepperdine University today, and saw that Honda was shooting a commercial for two cloaked vehicles. Watched long enough to see that it was the 07 CRV.

Security was pretty tight, and I didn't have a camera. However, it did drive by me with the rear hatch up, and I have a couple of observations FWIW:

~Similar to the RDX (which I saw and sat in at Fashion Island in Newport Beach) the rear storage space seems very limited as compared to the 05 CRV.

~It does seem quite smaller than the new RAV4 on the outside.

Again, these are observations from a limited look, but wanted to let folks know.

I keep hearing about a Sept 1 announcement and production by October. I dropped by our local Honda dealer today. I just bought a Fit so they weren't pushing to sell me an '06 CRV. I showed the CRV spy photos to several sales folks and 2 managers. The managers act like they've seen them, but want to hide the pics from the floor salesman. They don't trust them to sell the '06's when customers ask about the '07's. A manager I trusted said they were having a hands-on look at the CRV in October in Atlanta, but they didn't expect to have any to sell until late November or December.

When I was at a local dealership in Atlanta yesterday, a Senior Sales Representative told me that they won't have 2007's until the end of August. I saw numerous 2006's still on the lot.

Thanks for the inside "look" on the 2007 CR-V. From the looks, it does seem like the new CR-V may be smaller.

The sales manager is correct. I don't think we'll see it on sale until oct/nov.

Keep your cameras handy for those spy shots! Can't wait to see one in person. I have my camera always ready for those moments!
