View Full Version : 2007 engine options (for Europe)
Read in a newspaper that the Gen3 CR-V would be available in Europe with 4 different engines :!:
1.8 i-VTEC: 140hp ... ooochh
2.4 i-VTEC: 190hp ... like our Accord
2.2 i-CTDI: 140hp ... like the current one
2.2 i-CTDI: 170hp ... I want that one :D
For info, we currently have 2 engine options:
2.0 i-VTEC: 150hp
2.2 i-CTDI: 140hp
Interesting.
I wonder if that 1,8 is the R18 found in the new Civics or if it is K based?
Current CRV in South Africa is K20 only, and in Australia is K24. AFAIK the diesel is not offered in either countries.

I would guess it's the same as the Civic ... same output figure, built in the same factory (Swindon) so it would make sense to reuse the same engine.

I'd take the 190hp one or better yet, the 170hp diesel!!!!
I hope the diesel makes it to America, or at least the gasser with more than 190 HP. This has made my day but I'm waiting for Racoon. It's all just rumor speculation and wishful thinking blah blah blah  I'm just kidding with you buddy!
EDIT: Off topic---- You know AoS, I'd love to get a clip or video of your CRV driving, I'd love to know what the engine sounds like :)

I've got you so well trained you're starting to do my work!

I'll try to do that
I had a look at a few video reviews of the CR-V i-CTDI on the web ... but they all put some stupid comments or music to cover the engine sound

I know, I just posted a video in German reviewing the X-Trail and CRV... Both diesel, but there was talking and music :(
ps- how is your english so good? I mean other than the fact that any european school system smokes ours :(

From Spain
2.2 i-CTDI 170hp. 8) I want to drive one. 8)
Iīm a Spanish Honda Salesman
I can say that the last CRVs we have received are differents.
The 2.2 Engine (Diesel) is better now. I think Honda is installing the new one in the last 02GEN

Do you mean that the diesel engine on the current CR-V (2006 model) is better than the one on 2005?
I'm surprised they've changed it before the new model comes out.

Itīs better in some parameters:
Engine power is the same.
Noise is lower than before.
Engine vibrations is minor
Logical if in Honda are perfecting this fantastic engine.
What I donīt know is: why is better?
Is it the engine for GEN03 ?, I donīt know.
What I Know:
Units we are selling now are "Run Out". :!: :!:
Could be the new Engine or a new batch engine.
Honda Knowhow about Diesel Engines are better each day.
Honda are applying new knowhow in all cars production.
For example European civic 06: first units had problems with fuel doors, interiors noise,...Now are perfect cars

Interesting ...
Mine is from March 2005 (one of the first ones available), I have no vibration and the noise seems to be quite low (a little louder than it is in the Accord but not much ... I haven't driven a 2006 CR-V model to compare).
On a French forum, 2 owners are complaining about vibrations: 1 has a 2005 model (bought in June but based on his serial number, it looks like his V was made before mine) and the other one has a 2006 model. The guy with the 2006 model managed to reduce the vibrations by using high quality diesel (like Shell V-Power).
Btw, do you also have EGR issues on the CR-V and FR-V i-CTDI in Spain?
In Switzerland, they have quite a few and decided to reprogram the ECU of all CR-V and FR-V until a new EGR valve is available. Since then, I've noticed that my engine is less torquey than before

Just did a quick test with my mobile phone so you can hear the engine starting: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-498941379675185251
I'll try with my digital camera next time

Hey AoS will we (Switzerland) get a Diesel with automatic transmission?
Hey AoS will we (Switzerland) get a Diesel with automatic transmission?
No idea ... I haven't heard any rumor about the automatic diesel on any Honda model until now.
It's not easy to make a reliable automatic gearbox for an engine that has a lot of torque ... but since Honda made one for the Acura RD-X (2.4 i-VTEC turbo), I would guess that transmission could fit on the 2.2 i-CTDI without too much work.
Wait & see ... we should know more in early September
torque-happy transmissions are not difficult to make, just more expensive because of better materials.
if Honda would pick an old GM transmission (such as TH-350) which withstand 600 hp in stock condition and redesign it with japanese precision then we would have a bomb proof one.

True ... that's why you find many big cars (like BMW 7-serie, Mercedes S-class, Mercedes ML, Volskwagen Touareg, ...) with torquey diesel engines together with an automatic transmission (required in this market segment) ... but very few automatic options for the mid-size cars using 1.9l --> 2.2l diesel engines.

Hello guys,
any reliable info on diesel engine options for europe.
Hope the CRV 07 will have an automatic transmission for the ictdi, maybe a 170hp.
I am ready to trade in my 2006 CRV 2.2 iCtdi EX-L for the CRV 07.
The brand-new, third generation CR-V combines SUV practicality with more car-like driving dynamics, sportier styling and a more luxurious, generously equipped interior to take it into premium SUV territory. Uniquely within the sector, it is also available with the advanced Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Collision Mitigation Brake System (CMBS), two cutting-edge technologies that deliver added driver convenience and much enhanced safety.
A brand new 2.0-litre petrol engine, together with the 2.2-litre i-CTDi diesel engine, ensures that the CR-V continues to offer class-leading fuel consumption and performance.

There will not be a more powerful 2.2. ictdi?
I was willing for a 170hp or 180hp......

We'll probably have to wait some more time to get the "super clean" i-CTDI with 170hp.
I don't think the engine can deliver 170hp and meet the Euro4 regulations without particle and DeNOx filters. The particle filter is already available in some countries (Germany and Switzerland) but I don't think that Honda has already a DeNOx filter ready for mass production.
