View Full Version : New Pilot Lover
Hi Everyone:
I found this site through a google search about pilot parts & accessories. And I am surprised some many pilot lovers here and I have some similiar questions as everyone else. Here is my story:
I bought a 03' Silver Pilot EX last july for my wife to prepare for our family new addition. Minivan is sort of too....., you know, for our age. Considering all factors, plus I am a honda fan, Honda Pilot was the best choice at that time(and NOW).
My wife love it!! After she got used to drive the pilot, she felt riding in my '00 Civic like crawling on the road. What a comment, she rides with me in my Civic for more than 3 years.
Overall it's a great SUV for the price that we paid $78 over invoice. We will definately have fun with this baby for coming years.
Glad to join here and pleasure to share the experience with your guys :o

Where'd you find one for $78 over invoice? I'm waiting for mine right now and am paying $400 over invoice and thought I got a great deal.

Welcome to HondaSUV.com zliu and congrats to your soon to be family addition!
I also have to admit that I prefer driving the Pilot over my Civic... I just feel much safer in the Pilot... Right now I just use my Civic to and from work...
Anyways, please post some pictures of your Pilot...

Welcome onboard zliu!!!!!! $78 over invoice is very very good price. Congratulations to your family addition too. I bought my Pilot over a year ago when my first daughter was a year old, now we have our second daughter for two months and there's plenty of room for both. :)
I still drive my '92 Prelude. I still enjoy driving it because it's a great car. My driving habit of course changes depending on whether I drive Pilot (conservative, safe driving) or Prelude (agressive, but still safe driving).

I'm currently shopping for a 2004 Pilot EX-L in NYC and all the dealers are negotiating from the MSRP and not invoice. Since this is a hot car, should I expect to pay full sticker price? How are some of you getting deals at a few hundred above invoice? :?:
Thanks everyone!
I drive my Civic to work because 1. my Civic is stick shift, my wife don't know drive it yet. 2. My work is much further than hers, it more practical use Civic for the long commute. I can only drive Pilot during the weekend, soooooo, sad.......
I think my deal on the 03' Pilot is a GOD bless when we bought it last July.
It's a EX with cloth seat. The OUT TO DOOR price including everything (Tax, dealer's fee etc) we paid was $29,000 even. When the Sale Rep wrote up the final sale paper, the SUV itselft price worked out $78 over the invoice. It took us a lot negotiation to that price. I assume that's good price. BTW, I am in South Florida, may sales tax is lower than other region.

nycpilot -- i just got my pilot two weeks ago, and i got them to 29,725, which is 1655 off the sticker of 31380. that was the best i could do among 5 dealers in northern indiana. they are hot here, and the dealers know it, and are not willing to do a whole lot because they don't have to.
that price was with no trade-in. good luck
Welcome!
The prices of Pilots in SoCal is high as well because demand is high.
In addition, the Pilot like the MDX will enjoy very good resale value down the road! For us who've owned CR-Vs in the past know that as well because they don't depreciate that much over the years.
Enjoy.

Thanks everyone for the response. So far I think I can only negotiate on the options to be included in the total package price I'm willing to pay. I'll let you all know how I end up after a few more negotiations.

Usually, you get a better price if you try to negotiate WITHOUT any accessories. The dealers put a lot more mark-up on the accessories. I bought my Pilot without any accessories and I installed all the accessories myself later, so I saved a few hundred $$ for installation.
