So I went to the Honda dealership and as expected, the salesman wanted to give me a good deal on the 2006 but I refused and said I wanted to get a 2007. Quotas to meet. Understandable.

But he was still real short with me when I was trying to get information out of him. I wasn't too pleased with that.

Anyway, he said that he "thinks" that the new CR-V's won't come in until December. Yet all the other research I have says September 1. And I told him that.

I knew more about the new '07 then I am sure he did.

What is going on? When is this thing hitting the market? I want to get mine!

You'll be getting your CR-V soon enough!

Inventory will need to be built up and it'll probably be Oct before you see the first ones becoming available.

Welcome to HondaSUV.com. :D

Most dealers will not discuss the upcoming changes, because they want to clear what is sitting on the lot. Either they don't know about the changes, or they are waiting on the official Honda releases (like the Racoon!). :D

Yep.

Salesmen are STUPID  They barely know anything about the product they are trying to sell. What he was trying to sell you is their remaining 2006 stock. He was flat out lying when he told you December (assuming you are in the US). I wouldn't return to that dealership :?

September-October would be my guess for the release date.

Well, I was talking to a different salesguy then I was talking to before. I wanted my previous one but he was busy. This guy was just a pain.

Thanks for the encouragement. I saw that "Official" stuff but wasn't sure.

Oh, I'm in the US btw.

Let me say this, I walked to at least four local HONDA dealerships in the past two months, and the salesmen didn't know crop about the new CRV.
I showed them the pictures that we got at the time and there were impreseed.
But on my last visit to a Boulder CO Honda dealership, when I took a 2006 CRV for a road test (I wasn't gonna buy it because I am waiting for the 2007) and return, I told him that I was waiting for the new desing 2007.
He almost started to argued with me, stated that there were no redesign for the 2007 model. He was just being a carsalesman, and trying to sale me a car. Sad but that is how they git the reputation of ripping people off (I still have to see a really good salesman)
The best thing for us as a custumers is to get educated in a car.
I no longer deal with saleman, I huggle prices on a new car over the internet. I deal with the Internet managers for a least four dealerships and I end up buying the car at the best price.
Carsalesman hate educated consumers. Worse yet, when you walk in and go directly to deal with the manager.

I don't like car salesmen either, but don't waste their time going for a ride in a car you don't intend to buy. I am a real estate agent and I hate it when people waste my time. I think many people think we get salaries for showing houses. Now car salesmen are a different breed, we don't work like that (most of us), but I don't waste their time either.

i think we should get rid of all car salesmen.

i say car dealerships could be like vending machines. you look at what they have, pick one you like, and pay for it.

do research beforehand and then go look at the car.

every time i go look at a car at a dealership, i ALWAYS know more about the car than the salesmen do. many times, i end up teaching them more things.

We staff at dealerships are always the last to F***ing know it realy annoys me to see the press get pictures before we do, its a joke!!!
And thats why the sales men dont know. they know the info when the car is in the showroom. Beleive me ive asked people at honda and they dont tell us s**t about any unreleased cars.like the new type-r (2.0l like old one and beam suspension at rear!!!)
today i was at honda on a training course and saw the new LEGEND and was told i am not alowed to take pictures of it!!! WTF........ i saw it in the press 3 months ago before honda showed us pics of it.

Sad but true: Too often the customer-facing front-line employees are the last to know.

I'm reminded of back when I used to do phone support for a major PC manufacturer about a decade ago. One day we suddenly started getting customer calls on a factory-installed peripheral for which we had zero information.

Sometime later, a trainer tells us that he's going to introduce us to this new-fangled "Zip drive" that the company is now selling. We roll our eyes and thank him, then tell him that we figured it out for ourselves three months ago!

So don't feel alone GING, lots of us have been there. :)

Looking forward to seeing the '07 CR-V.....

Honda offical release date is Sept 28th

of Sept and Oct 1 in small quantaties.

I think you're being too hard on the guy. I mean you said "quotas to meet. understandable" but then you don't understand why he wouldn't want to stand around talking about a product that hasn't launched yet?

What puts food on his family's table is selling his current stock. What's he going to do, learn as much as he can about the next product and then tell perspective customers to hold off on their purchase and wait for a product he can't sell yet?

Dealers aren't the place to get information on a product that hasn't launched yet. Once the product has launched the dealer will be far more motivated to learn about the new model and you can get plenty annoyed with him (and rightfully) if he doesn't know anything about it.

You make a good point but IF A SALESMAN IS EVER, EVER SHORT WITH ME WHILE I'M AT HIS PLACE OF BUSINESS IT WILL BE HIS MISTAKE BECAUSE IF HE WANTS MY BUSINESS TO PUT FOOD ON HIS FAMILY'S TABLE, HE'LL WIND UP EATING HOTDOGS!!!! JMO This is just stupid on his part as most salespeople want the word of mouth advertising as well as a sale today.

I guess I'm lucky as my salesman is a true gentleman and a friend and would never offend someone this way. We've bought 3 Honda's from him and I'd recommend him to anyone.

Thank you for all the responses everyone.

I just wish the guy would have told me more.

He wasn't my original salesman that I had already dealt with previously. My salesman was busy.

From the looks of the 2007 pics you might just be more interested in the 2006 models like I am heading towards. Unless the crv looks better in person this looks like a knock-off of the rav 4 styling. The murano and mazda cx-7 will blow it out of the water as far as sales go. The mazda has a front end rake like a top notch sports car.
