Any of you fellows know of a little town in Sweden called Grytthytthan ? Maybe the spelling is wrong. That's the ancestral village. We have a swedish expression that's come down through the generations: hÅ hÅ ja ja. We think it's swedish but we're not sure. That's what we say when we're driving our CR-V in the suburban traffic of Washington and we're not going anywhere. HÅ HÅ ja ja. Does it mean anything?

Yes, it has got a meaning.

HÅ HÅ ja ja = he he yes yes.

I think it`s swedish humor

I am norwegian but with swedish ancesters(great grandfather/mother)

Franks G - Thanks for your explanation !- it kind of makes sense. It's used to exclaim a kind of "tired exasperation" - at least in our family - maybe the meaning has changed from the original over the generations.

My paternal ancestors are from Sweden (some of them) but my maternal grandparents were born in Fredrikstad and in Stavanger (Norway). So we love all things Norwegian, too, in addition to everything Swedish.

I guess we've strayed pretty far afield from from the purpose of this msg board! HÅ HÅ Ja Ja !
