View Full Version : Grocery Hook Durability?

In the 2nd generation CR-V there are two hooks in the cargo area, one on each side. I have been using these hooks (and, on occasion, a third hook on the door) to hold my plastic grocery bags. The hooks will each hold a good 5 or 6 bags...this keeps the groceries secure during transit.
The groceries, though, can get pretty heavy. I am worried about the hooks snapping off due to the weight of the bags. Has anyone else used their hooks alot? Anyone have them break? I have been using mine for about a year now and so far, so good.

i think they can hold up to a max of about 10 kgs. I remember the 1st gens actually had a weight limit printed on the door to remind you.

The hook on the 1G CR-V is rated at 3 kg (approx 6 lbs.)
For big grocery hauls, consider installing a cargo net or a Element-style cargo organizer.

if thats the case I wouldnt recommend 10kgs on the hook. 3-5 kgs would be close to the limit. the hooks on the 2nd gen are better designed than the first gen but you still dont wanna push them too far.
