hi,
yesterday I prepared my 21/2 year old HR-V for the 60.000km service.
I detected some adhering rust on all 4 doors (transition between the parts of window frame to door - inside!) and around the hinges of the back door.

Iīve shown the affected points to my dealer.

He got in contact with Honda Europe but up to now no info...

Hopefully the Honda warranty will work as they promise...

:( :( :(

some cr-vs also have rust in the same spots..

I think the metal edge is not properly treated with paint and the transition creates a gap that hold in water and accelerate the rust.

Same thing on my 4yrs old 5d HR-V ... I didn't mention it to my dealer yet. Let us know what Honda decided?

Mine 5D Hr-V is 10 mths old. After this winter I noticed rust on the front bumper - I mean on the solid metal bar (real bumper) behind the plastic cover of the bumper. I can see corroded metal - so it's not even a bit of paint missing, it's REAL RED rust. I've got Honda Poland acceptance to repaint this part in authorozed service. The rust warranty covers 6 years period and I belive Honda have to accept that and repaint.

But well, all these scares me a lot!
HR-V does not sound as long lasting product then.
Propably I should not buy HR-V - it's at the price of any other very well equipped lower class compact car.

My V got the left-time rust protection plan, so I am not worry about it yet.
But after I read on the agreement of the left-time anti-rust garentee, it remind me to check the V's body every 2 year on the first 6 year, and every year after the 6 year old of the lady's in RED. All this body check should inbetween 2 month of the protection plan's vaild day.
So I need to check her on next month it's the second time

Still Love my V

I still like my V. It has so many advantages. Obviously there must be dark side of the coin somewhere.
My main reason to purchase HRV was reliability and its relatively small size (for city traffic).

Exactly what my wife now uses it for.

As to Johen's oryginal email about the rust issue on the interior part of doors - I noticed the same on my car. It's 4 door, almost new - it's only 10 months old. It survived the first winter and now I can see the begining of rust in the same location as on Jochen's car - but only on front drivers door. Again Honda should accept it - but again I will have to leave the car in their service for a day or two.
Actually I decided to drive this shitty HRV till the end of warranty and never purchase Honda again.

Well "shitty HRV" is not a good step to call our loved car here ;)... What about people who love VW bettle? My brother had one, it was crashing every month, but he loved it! It's better to fix your, car, remember: Ypu will never "fix" Your wife ;) Better change ;) haha.. ok talking stupid -> going sleep :)

No car and no car maker are perfect

I would like to have your feedback in a couple of months when you have bought your new car and see if you still think that your HR-V was shitty.
The HR-V is one of the most reliable car on the market and the technical problems you can read here are nothing compared to what you can read in other forums (I'm also a member of a Citroen forum because my wife drives a C3 ... you should go and read the problems that they have on this car !)

or a Peugeot... a guy driving a towing truck that picked up our crashed Alero said that he waits for -15C (pretty common here in winter), because that's when the big money starts moving, since all Peugeots' stop moving :D

AoS, my friend has a C5, lot's of problems there as well. the car does not start occasionally, the dials and the integrated LCD screen go blank, the ECU died etc.

The same for my BMW 328i Touring E36 comes with its share of problems like the Nikasil issue, fogged lights like the HR-V, thermostat problems etc, all cars have problems. I mean an Aston Martin DB7 has the switch gear of a Ford and fail too! Enough said.

ITS A FAB CAR!!!!!!!!

I belive this is the forum for HRV owners not only HRV lovers, is this right?
I just use a car for my life convenience, do not love or like it. It's a tool I paid money for.
We share advantages and disadvantages of this car. My recent remarks on HRV are as they are because its paint quality is poor and its body metal built/construction is very thin (due to so called honda pedestrian safety program I hope you've read about). Be real man! I do not think something like this will last long.

If I purchased a new car which was rusting after 10 months I'd be pissed off too...and I'd also probably want to sell the 'shitty' car too.

Fair enough.
Like you my understanding is that this forum is for those with an interest in the HR-V, not only those who profess to 'love' their/the HR-V. I hope you keep contributing to this forum as I've not only appreciated you previous posts, but I think we all benefit from being exposed to different opinions.
Keep those posts coming... :D
Please note: My 'Tool' isn't rusting, and I'm currently perfectly happy to keep it. However, should I find the doors are going to fall off due to rust, IT'LL BE SOLD... :D

hi,
today I got back my HR-V from the dealer! Honda decided to change all doors and the hinges of the backdoor on warranty. :)
Up to now it seemīs that the garage has done a good job. Hopefully nothing happens again.
:?

:!: Anyone with the same probs should ask for warranty!!! My dealer said, that my HR-V was the first Honda since 3 years with probs like that.
