I have a 2006 Pilot EX. I purchased the XM Radio add-on kit, and installed it myself. I'm pretty experienced with installing aftermarket stereos & such, so installing this was no problem for me. After it was all hooked up, it came on fine, and I was able to listen to the preview channel. I then subscribed to XM Radio online, and had it working fine for a couple of hours while I put everything back together. Then I drive off to go out, and the damn thing quit working! The radio just displays "antenna", and I'm getting nothing. The owner's manual just says to bring it to the dealer.

The XM tuner is mounted under the seat and pretty easy to reach. I tried turning the radio off and on, shutting the ignition off and on, unplugging the antenna and bus connectors to the tuner and plugging them back in, and nothing. Any ideas as to what the problem may be? I sure hope it's just the tuner gone bad (already?), because I'd hate to have to take apart the dash all over again to replace the antenna.

TIA

Ok, I brought the Pilot to my local Honda service dept. to see about getting a defective part replaced. They require that self-installed electronic Honda parts be inspected in the vehicle before they replace it under warranty.

Initially, they couldn't figure out what was wrong either, but in the end they said it was a loose connection out of the antenna splitter box. Hmm, I'm a little skeptical of that explaination, as I verified myself that all the connections were good. Plus, the connectors themselves snap together, and you have to press a release button to unplug them. I can only figure the wires coming out of the little splitter box were the ones loosened, since I didn't check those. It's just strange that XM was working fine for those few hours then suddenly quit.

In any case, I now have my self-installed XM radio working in my Pilot. I took plenty of photos and wrote plenty of notes during the install, so when I have time, I'll try to write up a how-to for this site.
