HRV Buddies if you are in need of a Brake calliper in the U.K.I had a bad expieience with a firm who I refuse to mention, lets make up a name Speeed-ways although it wasnt.I purchased 2 rear Callipers for my sons Toyota MR2, One of which turned out not to be not working on the handbrake mechanism, this was confirmed by the garage who failed it for its M.O.T. and checked that the brake calliper was set up correctly on the car which it was (all new disks and pads)
I Phoned a guy from this firm lets just call him Steve although this was not his name who said there was nothing wrong with the Calliper (how did he know!!he obviously had super human telepathy powers), swore blind nothing ever goes wrong with there callipers and he hung up! Some customer service! I managed to calm him down on the second call and he said I would need to send it back and he would then need to send it to Holland but he didnt want to do this as they would be charged for the overhaul if the Dutch overhaul shop could not find anything wrong with it. So myself and the garage are telling pork pies!!
I asked him to send me another Calliper, we would pay for it and when we returned the one that was not working they could sort it and put it back on the shelf and re-imburse us. No chance!!says this guy, Why? says me, because the calliper has been on the car and theirs been fluid through them says Steve (made up name)!!! Eh! they have just gone from the box to the car how are you supposed to try them if you dont fit them on the car Steve ??? Anyhoo I always make it a rule never to debate to long on a phone with an idiot, I had to pay to send the overhauled duff calliper back and wait 10 days for it to be returned rattling about unprotected in the box we sent and it was filthy.
They said there was nothing wrong with the calliper ,surprise surprise!
but!! had set it up. Low and behold when we fitted it , amazingly it worked.
Do youself a favour, if your looking for customer service, honesty and a proper guarentee then think twice before you buy from this firm whose name I have not supplied and deffinately dont ask for Steve (made up name)if you have a problem!!
If they supply you with a duff unit as they did with me you become the owner of it! (they are only middle men)you have been warned.
I'll need to get my son to buy a Honda HRV instead, they never need sorting oh! they also do Honda parts.

Glad you got it sorted mate. Just a thought you might want to edit out the name of the company. As this is a public forum, and I know of forum owners that have been threatened with legal action when there has been naming and shaming.

Just a thought that's all. I have no problem with people pm'ing you to get the info. And I do agree that the service you seem to have gotten is shocking. But I'm trying to be a bit diplomatic here as I don't want to see either you or bing sued for slander.

unfortunately that's the only reason why BS dealers stay in business.

Thats why its so important to get original parts from the manufacturer or get the parts from the mechanic who will do the job. If your mechanic who fitted them supplied them to you then he is responsible for the parts and not you stuck with the problem. And most local mechanics have the experience with non original parts that are of good quality with various costs.

But its good to see you sorted them out.

Thanks for the advise.
