Thinking about adding another 12 subbie in the car, has anyone done this to a hrv? do you have any boot space left? anyone got any pictures?

Hi,
I know this thread is now quite old but i can tell you what i have fitted into my HR-V.
In short, I have a FLI-ACTIVE-TRAP 12" sub fitted. Since I have 6x9's recessed in my parcel shelf, I have to have the sub sitting in the centre of the boot (with the speaker facing toward the boot door) other wise the top of the sub would hit one of the 6x9's.

It leaves about 12" either side of the sub in the boot for bags and bits.
It happens to be carpeted in a very similar colour to the HR'V and looks great. You can fit another small bag of shopping in front of the sub or a pair of shoes etc.
I personaly don't need the boot that often and when I do its a snap to take the parcel shelf or the sub out since I have fitted connectors all round. No messing about, clip, clip, lift a' voila! BTW the sub already has an amp fitted inside it so no extra room taken up there.
If you have rear speakers in the original mounting points (I warn you they are quite shallow and will not accept a beefy speaker) or none at all you can happily fit the sub to the side of the boot. I guess it would take up approx just under half of your boot space.
There are plenty of smaller subs out there thought (including the same as mine in a smaller size, and in pink for the ladies <nannis>) so its upto you.
READ ON for more ICE in my HR-V.
I have a Kenwood KVT M707 head unit fitted in the original slot. it only takes up the single slot leaving the clock and recess unfettered.
Press a single button on the unit and a 7INCH SCREEN POPS OUT.
The screen is touch sensitive and can be used to control the CD/DVD/MP3 players and you can view DVD's and SAT navigaion.
Its pretty good from a security perspective since when the screen is withdrawn the unit looks minimalist, (no lights or fancy bits) and also has a face off section. The unit can be controlled with the touch screen or by using the facia buttons when the screen is withdrawn or by the remote control.

I plan to add a DVD player and the Sat nav module when and if I can afford it. Not to mention the Ipod Unit that will alow me to place my Ipod in a cradle and then use the Kenwoods controls to work it.
I have it hooked up to,
2x FRONT - Pioneer speakers that are located in the original recesses.
2x REAR - Pioneer 6x9"s that have been neatly fitted/recessed into the original parcel shelf. I have added connectors to the rear speaker cables about 4 inches along from the speakers so that all I have to do to remove the parcel shelf is unclip the left and right spearker cables in a swift movement and then remove the shelf as normal.
1x FLI-ACTIVE-TRAP 1000watts Subwoofer with built in amp.
1x 10 disc multi CD changer and MP3 player.
The head unit is smart enough to be able to spilt the car into front and rear zones so for example.
If you had rear LCD screens you can get the head unit to play the kids DVD and DVD audio through the rear speakers and have the unit play a CD or the radio through the front speakers.
Hurm perhaps just the kids DVDs through the rears would surfice.
I hope this is of interest or use.
