tinting the windows DIY

bought some 15% tint for the windows, going to experiment in doing it my self, if it fails which it most likely will i would have only lost $30 bucks, but if it works well then im up $250... ill let you know how i go

You might do well to SEARCH, since I learned LOTS about the topic a few weeks ago, like: Don't use cheap tint, don't do it without a helper available. Look it up.

I'm very happy with the results, but I had to dismantle windows because there was previous (also cheap) tint that had to be removed completely. :-(

IMO, this is something that is not worth a DIY approach. Pay a professional so you don't end up with tint that turns purple, bubbles, or just doesn't fit.

can't agree more, i did on experiement on another car i had before it was just a mess and it cost me mroe to simply remove it.

yeah get a pro it's worth the money

aslo where r u getting it done??? and how much?? some special at around $225 or $250

i got my tint done for $150 %5 on the back 10% on the front in melb possibly other states in aus, i got it done by premeir tint

but 5% and 10% r they legal? and do u mean all the windows except the front wind screen?

hey! yeah i got 5% on the back three, and 20% on the front 2 and it looks so good! the legallity well.... from what i hear the front two are the only illegal, however i think the %5 on the hatch back is also illegal, the windscreen has a sun strip but your not allowed to tint them... where abouts in melbourne do you live? suburb? i live in malvern and i got the tints done in dandynong, i can get this price everytime.... because ive got a special deal... would you be intrested... ill try and get the photos of my car working so that you can see it...

no, nothing much just roof rack, alloys and sub and headunit, yeah as dark as urs would be great!!!!

yeah the darkness is good on mine.... its not insain but it looks really good!....

as for pannel beaters, there is a really nice family owned business around the corner from me that take real pride in perfection for a good price... a teacher from my school ran into the front of my car a few months ago and i got it repaired... they did a really good job... there also fairly good in terms of pricing...

the tint guy hasnt emailed me back yet....

the panel behind the passgenr dorr got dented by some guy's punch, no paint got puchned off, but it's dented, was thinking to take it off and fix it myself, but don't know how to take it off :( :( :( :( :(

and i'm thinking tow bar too and thinking tube type subie for space saving, any idea?

not sure, just do a "hrv" search on ebay.com.au and u'll see one with 600 something dolloars wheel set for hrv, i told the guy i didn't want the tyres and he was happy to sell it to me for $300 + postage, i'm getting it tmr, will send u pic if u want :D :D :D :D

hey yeah i'll check, but im pretty sure that should be fine.... they normally take around an hour and a half per car, but that should probably be able to do the 2 in the same hour... what makes are the cars, what tint do you want, when do you want it done, sometime next week would be perferable... whats your name and the rego's, you can email me this info at Hillcs1@optusnet.com.au if you want... ill call the guy today providing i get the info from you...

its a pretty dam good deal, $300 for 2 cars, whereas normally you could probably only get 1 car for that....
