Hi Harry,

Have you considered removing the plastic inner liner from the boot and mounting the amps to a wooden board beneath the boot floor?

Also with the rear shelf, because there's a lot of flex in the shelf, you'll get a nicer sound from the speakers if you make an MDF shelf up and then cover it in acoustic carpet - that way you can hide the speakers from view completely.

The other way is to mount the speakers to two wood baffle boards beneath the shelf and the cover the top of the shelf with acoustic carpet - you retain the shelf hinges and lifting ability, you stiffen the shelf and but you retain the standard shelf shape and appearance.

That said, anything that's better than what you had before is a 100% improvement :)

thank you for your welcome

yeah i guess i should explain abit about it!

well firstly i'm an impluse buyer!

On day when taking a screw driver into my car, i started to see how everything was fitting into place... as i started pulling off covers the more intreged i got.... after doing this for a awhile i put my screwdriver by accident striait threw the left stock speaker in the front... this stoped my enthusiam to continue.....

while 2-3 weeks went passed while i listened to one speaker... i though it might be about to to invest in a sound system... against my girlfriend's :P advice!. while shopping i put together a list of what i wanted to what i could afford... i wanted good sound, good bass, mp3, aux in for ipod.... i firstly good everything i wanted except BASS  .... after another 2 weeks passed, went into jbhifi with no intention of spending any money... and came out with a sub amp and wiring kit :D ... that night at around 10 pm my car got smashed into via the left window  ... wallet, ipod and remote for sound system going leaving me with a $250 glass repairng bill.... not happy. luckly enuff they didnt spot the amp or the sub which was under the back seat and in the boot FEW!.... the next day me and my mate installed it.... it was extreemly easy... im most proude of where the amp is... out of the way!

the head unit supplies the power for the 4 speakers with 4 by 52 watts
the front 6.5 are 2 way audiobahn which i think are around 230watts
the rear 6/9 are 3 way pioneer which are 260watts...
the amp for the sub is a audioline 400watt 2 way
the sub is a pioneer 12" sub around 300 watt

please feel free to ask any question

Hi Harry,

Sounds like you need to spend a little time thinking about how to hide your gear in your car yet still be able to hear it? I live in area where theiving scum are pretty common and 'touch wood' i've yet to have a problem.

Couple of simple rules;

1. Never play your hifi loud near where you live ;)
2. Never leave anything on show that someone else might want for the same reasons you bought it.

It's a bloody shame you can't have something nice without someone else wanting to take it off you, but you can have a lot of fun fitting stuff so maybe it's a good excuse to see not just how much better you can make it sound, but also how well you can hide it :)

If you've not downloaded the ESM manual from mrtn yet - i would reccomend you do. It's much easier to take a car to bits if you know where all the screws and clips are.

Cars are a disease you know, once you start you'll be infected for life :-)

i might consider it later on down the track.... i do like what you have done with yours.... it looks great

Thank you for the manual on the hrv! This will prove to be very handy in the future

Thanks guys

Hi Harry, welcom to the forum. Good to see another Aussie on this ship...........but unfortunantly.......your a Mexican!

Your stereo set up looks very similar to my old one. I have removed it completely cause everyone in the neighbourhood kept "eyeing" it out.

Cheers.

Welcome!

Your poll does not have an option for:

"I don't care about audio"

and

"If you need 'in car entertainment' you're driving too slowly"

Heh!

Hey i like what you have done! its great! i'm currently looking for something like yours its good inspiration....

just some general questions

1 in the back of the car, from where the back seat belt retracts to the bottom of the front door and under the seat does any one know if there is an easy way to thread speaker wire threw there?

2 what type of headlights does a hrv have
3 what type of pakers
what type are the lights in the middel part of the roof in the front?

Sure.

Two bolts located on the rear of the boot floor just at the back of the seat. Once those are undone the seat just lifts up and out - it's on two clips at the front.

If you look in the ESM manual it will show you where all the component locations are. When i wired mine up i had all the seats out, all the carpets out and all the rear plastic trim around the side of the boot to make access easier :)
