bought a new rim and tyre today. since there was no Gislaved NF I available anymore (for past 6 years to be exact) i got one NF 3. will pick up the rest next winter.
apparently i was not the 1st one hitting the pothole, counting the hubcaps laying around the place.
i write the letter to the town govt to pay for the damages. i'll sue them if they refuse.

And I thought our roads were bad. I can see how you hit it too. In the dark it must have been very hard to see. At least you had steelies on and not shiney new alloys.
this kind of pothole is kinda rare, haven't seen such for years, not to mention this is my first pothole damage in 15 years of driving.

And I bet it was at a time when you really could have done without the hassle of sorting it all out as well.
well, there's never time for such trouble. it's just a PITA.

aww, that's bad
U were right to take lot of pics. And I also agree that u will sue them if they don't u pay u back for the damage...
good luck!
ouch! call your insurance company or youre lawyer asap... depending on the country you should have called the road cops right at the incident... youve got pretty good chance to get most of the money back but its the little things you have to follow in order not to void your claim...

That's a crater not a pothole .... hidden by snow too - good job you didn't have low profiles on!

i did call the cops first, they registered the case. then took the pictures, in the morning i went to the insurance co and had it checked by them, then to the dealer to get their evaluation. then i called to the city govt and asked about the procedure. so i wrote them a letter together with photos. they have 1 month to reply.
well i see you did all by the book
btw - what did the insurance people say? why dont they take care of that?
they'll take care of anything over €192, which is my deductible amount. but someone has to pay the €192.
after installing the new rim i went to wheel alignment. they said the rear right rim is damaged as well, so i got another one.

 that's a heck of a hole!!! Sorry to hear about your damaged wheel, something similar happened to me 5 years ago....
Here in the US with my old car there was a huge lip (about 2 1/2 inches) on the road where they were repaving and I hit it. My car had aftermarket wheels and tires. It immediately bent all 4 wheels, and I was going 50MPH, which was 5 slower than the speed limit. There was no sign warning me of the bump, so I called the city and they refused to pay for the damages on my car

The only difference between a pot hole and a grave is the depth.
