Hay y'all
I have never had an alarm in my car. I am coonsidering the keyless entry system but is an alarm really useful at all?
Thanks

I've never had an alarm either, and tend to notice that, well, no one really notices them unless they're making a racket for many many minutes at a time when people are trying to sleep.
On the Elements the keyless entry system is separate from the alarm, and doesn't have an alarm system. Honda does have an alarm system for the E, and I believe that it requires you to have the keyless entry system already installed--that is to say that keyless may be a prerequisite for the alarm.
As for useful--depends upon where you live, and what your insurance company might consider. Sometimes it'll get you a break on insurance, other times it may not make a difference.

Thanks TTempel
I did follow up on the insurance part and what I get is minimal since the car already has the "need the key with the chip" to go,

the alarm is a little squirrely, too. simply pushing the key in and out of the ignition several times changes modes from manual to auto. it's easy to do. only problem is that in auto the alarm is automatically set any time all the doors are closed (and the key isn't in the ignition) but the doors don't lock themselves!!! the alarm is easy to install and the presence of the flashing red light on the steering column is a nice reminder to the morons who don't know they can't steal the car without the right key.

I would just get an auto starter. It is an alarm if you want, keyless entry and starter with the same remote and about the same price. I had one before, it is the best acessory to have. I'm looking to install a new one in the E soon. I disconnected the alarm part. You can't steal the E anyway and once someone breaks in and steals your belongings it doesn't really matter if you have an alarm or not.

SEARCH IT If the remotes are interchangeable, keywords would be 'programming alarm' or 'program remote instructions'.
:!:
The Marketplace has some of those options available . . . .

Check the back of the remote,,,,if it has the same FCC code as the Element remote it will work. See below for programing instructions.
