Well, here's a thought, how about a meet this summer for members in the SoCal area? We have a few places in mind but the one that really interested us is perhaps a road trip/meet to a local OHV park.

We are thinking sometime towards the last week of July/August. Anybody interested?

wake up cali, we've been hibernating for too long!

we've found a perfect place for everybody, both 2WD and 4WD SUVs will love this place. the pictures above were taken from Johnson Valley OHV by lucerne valley/victorville. trails ranging from light to moderate to hard are for the twisted and a HUGE flat area for speed freaks. its the best of both worlds!

this place is awesome! when i'm bored trekking the trails, i did a few 0-60 runs or as fast as my V can go. :twisted: you can see the dust behind me and you can litteraly shout "EAT MY DUST!" at the driver behind you. :lol:

so c'mon and see for yourself. btw, its FREE to get in!

I'm in Virginia and have been trying to think about a place to go to try out the ole' V. Should try to get together. Not too sure where there is a place to go, but I am sure that we wouldn't have to go far. :)

there's a couple of OHV parks out here like in gorman and asuza. but johnson valley is the only place i know nearby where you can do both WOT and trail trekking. we'll have more participants in this area coz even 2WD Vs can enjoy this place. remember that this place is SO HOT during the summer time.

so throw in some dates so we can adjust our schedules to get this going SOCAL!

depending on the date, i'd make the trip, even w/ $3.50/gallon gas.

may29 is Memorial Day, 3 day weekend. sort of the semi-official beginning of summer.

doesnt need to be honda at all. you can bring the new toyota FJ or rav4 if you have one. i think its cool if most SUVs or 4X4/4X2 on the market today will show up. hmmm...i may borrow a friend's X3 that day. :lol:

then i went downstairs to check a physical calendar and discovered that May 14 is Mother's Day.
there are members of my family who wouldn't be appreciative of my being gone on their special day. so i either need to convince them to come along or lobby for a date change. i don't know if others have same issue.

i didnt realize its mother's day that day. but we're only going to be there for the most part of the morning. its going to be pretty HOT out there for most of us to bear past noon anyway. i know i dont want to be there during those times again. so i think it can still work out. also thats why i'm suggesting for us to start the trip as early as possible while the temp is still nice and cool. then everybody can go home in time to celebrate mother's day with a BIG grin. :D

this place is not that bad. if you're not comfortable to off-road with your V, you can surely carpool with one of us and be our photographer. :D there are tons of flat space inside so who knows, you may be itching to autocross your V when you see this place. :twisted:

where are you coming from? the reason for starting that early is so that we'll be done before the intense heat kicks in by noon. we may meet at the milliken ave truck stop by the 10 fwy. do try to make it.

travelling together would offer safety/company, but given the desired arrival time, i'm considering driving most of the way the night before, finding a Motel6 for the night, and driving the final bit in the morning. any other folks driving up from San Diego?
