View Full Version : Pollen Filter...
I have noticed that the air that comes out of the vent system does not flow well and when I saw it has a 'pollen filter' I have to guess it is blocked.
Has anyone else cleaned/checked replaced theirs?
Is it as easy as the manual suggests?
Could you blow it out with compressed air or is it a replacement only item?
Was it freely available at the dealer?
WTB a K&N performance pollen filter? :) :D :D :D
Thanx.

I suppose if you're not a hayfever sufferer then a pollen filter is a pointless addon - i've always thought the HRV had a weak fan, probably as you suggest, pollen filter is all bunged up.
I'll have to check the manual and see where it is and how easy it is to get to!
it's behind the glove box, you'll have to remove it first.
i removed the filter for winter but reinstalled in spring because of the enormous amount of dust you get in the cabin if driving on dirt roads.
EDIT: typos.

Mmm, I saw that in the w/shop manual. I should get to it by the weekend, so I'll let you all know what I found...

Finally got to it...

Filthy.
I'm not sure I'll be able to get a replacement (the local agents are very funny about slow-moving spares, and I don;t feel like arguing which they win by doubling the price, so if it is a problem to get, then I'll improvise with some cotton media in the frame...

Hmm
On what i've seen before, you might get away with just "washing it" or even blowing it clean with compressed air!
Yep, blew it out, but it was really blinded, so I gave it a 'gentle' wash with detergent. Lots of surface dust came off, but I'm suspecting that some 'idjut' put a bit of oil on it (like it was a K&N) and so it seems terminal. When it's dry, I'll put it back in to test, but I'm not holding my breath.
Now for the agents...
:? :)
Okay, collected 2 pollen filters...
(They even had stock)
They were rather expensive though, R480 for 2... Ummm U$80.... Umm translated into the universal currency, it's equivalent of about 46 Big Mac burgers...
Heh!
well i guess thats the secret honda diet...
to breathe clean air or to get fat
btw - why 2? you intend to turn on profit on ebay?

Just like the Big Mac, one just isn't enough.
If the car wants 2 it gets 2...
Mine cost 37 GBP for the pair
didnt know it wants two
DAMN! Wrong part!
Thought it was too easy!
They supplied:
80292-SCA-E11
Any ideas on what the correct part number is?
 :?
Put the 'old' ones back in (washed and dried), even though I had no faith in them being any better, and they work perfectly - I guess I'm going to swap the new ones out at Honda for other stuff I do need, or I'll be getting those big Macs after all!

Yep, i just blew mine out at the garage airline - job done and problem solved. Feels like the fan has gained about 50% more blow :)
***Saga ends***
They did not have the right part so they agreed to swap with other stuff - so I got 2 liters of Dual-Pump fluid (for the diff if you were wondering) and three bottles of Honda Anti-Freeze (which is amazingly expensive, but mine eyes have seen the glory - this stuff is excellent)
Pollen filters will be blown out / washed as requred...
  :? :)

This is the correct code for the filters: 80291-S2H-505
Thanx a lot! I'll quiz them on it...

I'm quite sure you could remove the filters and use a very fine cotton gauze stretched over the frame the filters sit in ....
Then again, in the damp uk dust isn't really so much of a problem and i don't get hayfever so am not worried about pollen either :) I did find a few leaves in there!
