I have question about my 2002 HR-V wheel offset. Currently, I have an original 205/60/16 6J wheel and I want to change to 17" later, but I don't know the original wheel offset?

Actually, I have seen some different answer from the web, I do know which one is correct? for example, 40, 42 & 45?

If I want to change to 215/55/17 7J wheel & tyre, will it be to big. Because I found some info about the CVT problem in this forum, I am so worry it will cause the CVT having more problem in future if I change to a bigger wheel.

Also could anyone suggest which offset for 17" wheel is best suit for HRV, I perfer to have it just fit to the outer edge of the fender.

Could anyone give me some advise please, Thank's

Copied the following from the FAQ post.
By going to the tire calculator site listed below you'll see that the 215/55-17 is 2.4% bigger than the 205/60-16. FYI the 215/55-17 is exactly the same diameter and circumference as the tyres I currently have i.e. 205/70-15.

Wheels/tyres:

195/70 R15 (5.5" width)
205/60 R16 (6" width)
bolt pattern: 114.3 x 5, offset 35-40 mm

maximum tire size tested without rubbing: 215/70R15
you can compare yours at

Up-Sizing your wheels
This means your are increasing the size of your wheels and lowering the profile of your tyres for increased performance and style, here's the rule of thumb for Up-sizing, follow these simple rules for unchanged speedometer readings and fuel economy:
To increase wheel size by 1 inch
Increase the tyre section width by 10mm
Decrease the tyre aspect ratio by 10 points
Increase the wheel rim diameter by 1 inch
Plus 2:
Increase the tyre section width by 20mm
Decrease the tyre aspect ratio by 20 points
Increase the wheel rim diameter by 2 inches
