This just to let people know we have stuff in the works, AND also to set aside these dates:

JULY 30th - FDR Park BBQ
this will be our usual informal bbq, time and specifics to come very shortly

and....

OCTOBER 1 - FALL FOLIAGE TOUR in MASSACHUSETTS

This will be almost exactly like the 2002 Fall Foliage Tour. We met in Lee, MA and drove up to Mt. Greylock, then across Rt. 2 and down Rt. 10 to finish off in Northampton and have dinner at FitzWilly's Restaurant. Over the next few months I will be working on a precise route, times and possible apple or pumpkin picking. Keep a look out for the details.

The last time we had this meet there, we got Wildswing to come down from Canada (no pressure Mark).

Last years Fall Foliage brought 15 cars, let's see if we can top that :-)

Here's the writeup from our 2002 trip:

Hey folks!

I've posted a link to this thread in the Ontario memberclub forum as well as sent an email to fellow member gueb at http://www.quebeccrv.com/ asking him to post it there.

We will be driving from Buffalo, NY. So, any Ontarians/Torontians want to ride with us in a caravan, you are more than welcome. If you are taking the ferry from Toronto to Rochester, we can meet up in Rochester and ride from there. Alternativley we can meet up at rest stops along I-90.

Oops. I forgot to log back in before I posted that (Sorry for the double post  )
=============================================

As soon as my girlfriend read about the Fall Foliage Tour in Massachusetts, I knew we were going.

We normally drive up towards Saranac Lake/Lake Placid to enjoy the fall foliage. However, this trip will be a bit closer to our home, and give us the oppurtunity to meet some new people. I'll be keeping my eye out for more information on this.

Hey KingHookJaw,
Great!!! New faces are always welcomed!! Hopefully this year we will also have collected some good stuff to give away to people.

Where are you located?

Can't wait to see your CR-V, not only do you have the color I love, but just about everything I want :P

I'll be posting more specific details towards the end of August. At the event I will bring along a printed itinerary for everyone to be able to know where exactly were going and the time table.

The Corning event sounds great (wish I could make it but have plans). The New England EOC (http://www.elementownersclub.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=27) is starting to think about a winter meet. I know you guys have done winter Olympics in the past and thought it would be great if we could join forces. The idea of meeting at a downhill ski lodge is currently being tossed around but as not everyone skis, we're open to suggestions.

Cheers.

I've organized the two Olympic meets, and they were held at ski lodges, but they were done at the end of the summer. Winter is peak ski season, so getting resorts to host an automotive event could be a little tricky. They need their facilities for skiers.

Ramblerdan,
A winter olympics sounds like a lot of fun. As Varmint mentioned, probably most ski resorts won't want to give up their precious fields they'll be using for parking.

I had tossed around the idea of a winter meet, and doing it a ski lodge a while back. I got the concerns of what do those who don't ski do. If you can find a ski resort at least near a town with some shops that could offer an alternative, folks could shop and then meet up with the skiers.

I'm hoping to start cross country skiing this winter. So I'd be interested in that.

Keep us informed or start a post to let the NEMC know about any future plans. January through May are usually pretty dead times for meets, so it would be great to fill that time. :)

Will do. If it is to be ski-related, I'd suggest Manchester, Vt., a good shopping town with two resorts nearby. TTYL.
