Hi everybody,

This is my first post here.

I am Portuguese (Portugal, Euro 2004 - remember? - ehehe 8) ), and I am thinking in buying an used HR-V.

The car is from year 2000, 1.6 ES(105hp) 5 Doors, manual gear box, alloy wheels, AC, Rear Spoiler, etc....
The car is black and it is really in good shape.
It only has 60.000kms and I believe that the rear seats have never been used...

My only doubt is - What to expect from this vehicle ?
Reliability, Consumption, problems, etc ? -

Please give me your opinions.
Thank you in advance.

welcome!

you can expect fun of driving. the fuel consumption is quite high compared to compact cars: 8-9L/100 km, not much difference driving on motorway since the high body has more wind resistance.

there's lots of information on HR-V here. start by reading the FAQ topic: http://www.hondasuv.com/stg/viewtopic.php?t=785 and move on to more specific discussions.

IMHO: HR-V is the best car i've owned and couldn't think of any other car i'd trade it in for, for the time being..

congrats on Euro 2004 :D

And fun to drive - even stupidly where conditons allow. Anyone fancy taking their V on a trackday somewhere?

I'd need to take all my tools out, and remove my roof rack....

I'm not sure if it'd be any good on a track, as all out speed isn't really it's thing.

Where it really shines is street racing. that rediculous 0 - 30mph time, passive 4 wheel steering, RT4WD, and mini-like chuckability. makes it more than a match for cars with twice the power.

What about a rally stage?????

I guess we've all read the following article.

The Honda HR-V which won The Daily Telegraph Sahara Challenge Trophy,

A PRIVATELY-entered Honda HR-V has won The Daily Telegraph Sahara Challenge Trophy, as part of the recent World Cup Rally.
Driven by enthusiasts David Winstanley and Paul Hargreaves, the near-standard ‘Joy Machine’ not only won its class in the London-Sahara-London event, but ran virtually trouble free throughout. The HR-V 1.6i VTEC completed the timed sections of the 20 day event in 7 hrs, 34 min, 39 sec - more than one hour ahead of the next competitor in the sub 1600cc ‘Sahara Challenge’ category.

Organised by the Classic Rally Association and supported by The Daily Telegraph, the World Cup Rally is a unique motorsport event. It was designed to give the ordinary motorist driving everyday cars the chance to take part in the adventure of long distance rallying, at reasonable cost.

To that end, engine tuning is forbidden, and modifications are confined to the installation of roll cages, fire extinguishers and sump guards. To cope with the rough roads of Portugal and Morocco, strengthened mounting points and up-rated suspension parts were also allowed. Ironically it was the non Honda ‘heavy duty’ dampers that were to cause the only mechanical problem for the Winstanley/Hargreaves HR-V.

But what made the Honda’s performance so impressive, was that the team were also carrying out filming for the event. So with two jobs to do instead of one, it was tough on the crew - and with an all up weight of 1800 kg, the vehicle certainly had its work cut out!

“The Honda did all that we asked of it and more,” says its driver David Winstanley. “Remarkably we even managed to achieve about half a dozen top ten stage times - I think that it was only the overall winners who we failed to be beat at least once.

“It was particularly good on the rough desert stages, and the 4WD system proved its worth when our help was needed to pull another competitor out of the sand. But when we got lost twice on a 75kms stage and dropped about 47 minutes, it was hard to take...

Hello,

Ok, let's update this post. 8)
The HR-V is already in my garage

Nice looking car...black, with 5 doors as I said...
I get it from the dealer on Saturday, and ride it for all the weekend and....
I'm in Love !! :P

My car has 5 years old, 60.000 kms, and it is like new...
It has no interior noises (I was used to a Peugeot 206...and that was a nightmaer with noises... :? ), it's confortable, spacious (5 doors), etc, etc, etc....It's beautiful, and It's mine !! - Finally...ehehe

Ok, all this just to say that I think I really done a pretty good buy...

Regards,

PS - I will go on holidays next week, and will take the HR-V with me...
Then I will make some photos and post them here...

Compared to the 206 it will be like driving in a soundproof box :-)

I'll bet you end up throwing it around just the same as the 206 too.

Hope you have a nice holiday :-)
