I just bought an 05 Pilot EX-L and plan on bringing it back home to Canada in a few years. I want to install DRLs in order to satisfy Canadian regualtions. Has anyone done just that? if so please let me know the processs. Most aftermarket DRLs seem to have problems with the Pilot.

The quickest way to get a good (and possibly even correct) answer is to use the SEARCH function at the top of this page. What kind of incompatability issues are there?
I'd be tempted to just wire up a set of fogs in series. 7 volts is just about right. You could even put in a delay timer for finding your way to the front door in the dark . . . .:-)
EDIT: Here's the link I was thinking of . . . It' still fresh.

Hi Steve,
Have you done your homework on importing US vehicles into Canada? I'm in the midst of dealing with the red tape for an older Mustang. Here's a start...

As for the DRLs, unless you can get your hands on a Honda or Helm ETM to see if the oem system will fit, you're probably best off with an aftermarket kit. CT probably carries them.

Thanks for the info, I did go through most of those sites in the past few weeks, fortunalety I still have afew more years before I have to deal with our customs officials.
I've spoken with one aftermarket company (regarding my DRL problem) and they seem to be having problems installing it on the Pilot, I'll be calling my old Honda dealer back home for more info.

Wildswing has a GOOD point. . . . . Honda USA and Honda Canada don't guarantee ANY reciprocity with regard to honoring each other's warranties. It's right on the Honda web site.
I turned down a lovely cR-V that a guy had brought 'home' to Canada, since it now had ZERO warranty, even though it was well within the years and LOW mileage. I figured he'd have to drop about $5 large off the price to make me bite.

All I am looking for is information regarding DRLs, I am aware of all the issues with importing a vehicle.
Thanks,
Steve

Curly,
I think the issue of warranties has more to do with individuals in one country purchasing cars in the other country. Since Steve's vehicle will not change ownership, I'm not sure if he'll have to worry about that.
Steve, why not contact Honda Canada tech line at:

Mark,
Thanks, I'll try that. As far as the warranty thing is concernded, as long as the individual does not resale the vehicle the warranty is still valid no matter which side of the border he is on. I brought a civic with me that still has warranty left on it and its just a matter of registering the vehicle with Honda USA and they will honour the warranty.

If it is an 05 and you have the keyless remote it is easy..........You leave the lights on ALL THE TIME once you get out of the car and turn on the alram the lights will turn off in about 3-5 seconds......Trust me I do this EVERYDAY. :D

My '03 will shut off the light after 2-3 minutes I believe. I just leave them on all the time. Free DRL!
