Our Ontario group site has been really quiet.
We seem to have lost some members!
Time for a roll call. Who's here?

I'm still here Dave, although I must admit, not as active as before. Bing still hasn't been able to find my lost moderator priveledges, but he's working on upgrades. In the mean time, I've been away frequenting other mid-life crisis sites.

Hi Dave,
I am still here, but not as frequent a visitor as before. Life got in the way.

Yup. Slow. We've picked up a 01 Miata. Been posting at the miata forum. Good place.
Our V is doing a good job hauling our 3 Golden Retrievers. Inside...dog hair everywhere! You can sure tell I'm driving it and not my wife! her car always looks better than new.

Hey out there!
I just checked in and realized I haven't been here since Feb '05. My how things can change! I used to check in daily right from the beginning when Bing first started the site.
Priorities change I guess but being gone for over a year? No excuse!
Oh well, can't say how often I'll drop by but I had to respond to the roll call (even if I'm seven months late).

CR-V is going strong. However, we're a 2 dog family now.
Found great mats at Costco. About $25 Cdn. they seem to keep the noise down a little too..could be just my imagination.

A pretty quiet forum but, as a new CR-V owner, I thought I'd introduce myself.
My name is David. I'm a retired forester in Sault Ste. Marie.
I bought a new Redondo Red Pearl 2006 CR-V SE (MT) a little less than 2 months ago. I owned a 1981 Civic 1500GL which I sold (many) years ago and I'm glad to be back driving a Honda again.
I'm looking forward to picking up some good advice on this Forum.

WoooooHooooooo
WELCOME!!!!
Finally, a 2nd member from the Soo :!: Well, actually 3rd. Somebody from the Soo registered a long time ago but they've never posted. I tried sending them a PM but got no response.
Welcome to HondaSUV 4 s ter. I'm the moderator of the Ontario forum. Yes, the Ontario forum has been pretty quiet lately. Most discussions happen over in the main forums. Unfortunately bing (site admin in Los Angeles) had a server crash a long time ago and my moderators rights dissappeared. I can't enroll people into the Ontario Member club anymore. Apparently he's working on a site upgrade that will fix that.
Red 2006 huh? I'll have to keep an eye out for it. You'll recogize mine pretty easily. It's a silver 2002 SE, with auxilliary driving lights on the front. Some have called them granny glasses :D

It's easy to ID from the back too. It's the only one around with reflective HondaSUV.com and Goongalagoonga (it's a CR-V owner thing from way back) stickers on the back glass...

...as well as i-Vtech emblems just behind the front fenders. Usually it's my wife or daughter driving.
If you want to buy any accessories, stay away from Esquire. Honda Canada charges an arm and a leg. Order from Tim Poliniak at Hondacurwold (http://www.hondacuraworld.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc) in Buffalo, NY. They ship free to Wier's across the river. I bought my rear cargo liner, cargo tray and metal dash kit from him for a little over 1/2 of what Esquire wanted just for the liner!

Do you do much highway driving? Ever drive through Barrie? Have you put any stobe chip protection on the front of the V? You might want to consider 3M Paint Proection film (http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/Scotchgard-PPF/Home/For_the/Consumer/). I had some installed at a place in Barrie called Chip Guard (http://www.chipguard.com/index.asp). The stuff has worked wonders. 4+ years of my wife driving to/from southern ontario 4 times a year and not a mark on 'er. Let me know if you'ld like to see it up close. More info in my article HERE (http://www.hondasuv.com/crv/viewtopic.php?t=285). Sorry the pictures got wiped out in the last server crash.
The red line's there just to show the edge...

Also before doing anything with the car, ask the members at HondaSUV.com first. I also have both the shop manual and electrical troubleshooting maunal for the '02-03 so that may be of help if you need info. Just send me a private message (PM) through the forum or email,me directly at wildswing at shaw dot ca. FYI...I'm in the west end.
Click HERE (http://www.hondasuv.com/crv/viewforum.php?f=36) for more on what Goongalagoonga means. It's a line spoken by Carl Spackler (Bill Murray) in the movie Caddy Shack (1980 - Chevy Chase, Rodney Dangerfield, Ted Night)
http://www.carlspackler.com/archive/cs_358.jpg
Carl Spackler: So I jump ship in Hong Kong and make my way over to Tibet, and I get on as a looper at a course over in the Himalayas. A looper, you know, a caddy, a looper, a jock. So, I tell them I'm a pro jock, and who do you think they give me? The Dalai Lama, himself. Twelfth son of the Lama. The flowing robes, the grace, bald... striking. So, I'm on the first tee with him. I give him the driver. He hauls off and whacks one -- big hitter, the Lama -- long, into a ten-thousand foot crevice, right at the base of this glacier. And do you know what the Lama says? Gunga galunga...gunga -- gunga galunga. So we finish the eighteenth and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know." And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consiousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice.
WELCOME!!!!

Ortwein - Thanks for the welcome!
Wildswing - Thanks for the welcome and the information! My CR-V is still pretty stock, except for window tint. The two additions I'm considering first are a GPS unit and satelite radio (for those blank spots in N. Ont.). I'll keep a eye out for the silver CR-V with "granny glasses"

I didn't log in for over a year. Hard to keep staying excited about a three year old car.
Started logging back in to check out the word on the Gen3. Was sure hoping for a canadian diesel. But doesn't look like it. In that case, I'll probably wait a couple of years before buying a Gen3. Love the resale values on that Gen2.
