2007 Honda CR-V :: Information for current and future owners
Well, here at HondaSUV.com, we have a long history of owning and understanding the Honda CR-V. We were blessed with the introduction
back in 1997 when Honda released the 1st generation CR-V. At a time when most SUVs ride on truck base platforms, Honda gave us a "mini-ute" SUV that drove and handled like a car. The CR-V roots can be traced back to
the Civic wagon of the early 1990s where it was available with the real-time 4 wheel drive (aka RT4WD) setup. The first generation CR-V was produced betweeen 1997-2001 and it went through one major revision in 1999 where Honda boosted power output from 126hp to 146hp.
In 2002, Honda introduced the 2nd generation CR-V. This is a much refined vehicle in terms of power (160hp), comfort and space. The 2nd generation CR-V went through an update in 2005 with the addition of stability control (VSA), an update RT4WD system that responses faster,
and new exterior equipment (head/tail lamps, wheels, bumpers). Like the 1st generation CR-V, the 2nd generation continues to be the leader in the compact SUV segment boasting industry leading sales figures. It ranks high in JD Power scores and continues to be the benchmark when comparing
vehicles of similar size (Toyota RAV4, Subaru Outback, Ford Escape, etc).
For 2007, Honda will be releasing the 3rd generation CR-V. This upcoming 2007 Honda CR-V is due to be introduced
world-wide on September 1, 2006, with sales beginning mid October 2006.
June 2006: Unlike niche vehicles such as the Acura RDX and MDX, Honda has been
very secretive with information on the 2007 CR-V. There has been a few spy shots of the vehicle floating around and what started as rough sketches are now tranforming to spy photographs of
the actual car (covered up of course). Below is a collection of what we were able to find online so you can get a glimsp of what the 2007 Honda CR-V might look like?
Hybrid Honda CR-V
Is there a Honda CR-V hybrid around the corner? From current reports, the answer is "yes"! In the past, we have read that Honda will not be producing
a hybrid Honda CR-V. However, with global oil prices at record levels, hybrid model demand have taken off and manufacturers are scrambling to release what
the market wants.
